JVC X'Eye Help Needed

Good evening folks,

Just grabbed me an X'eye off an auction and it seems to be running great. While the sound is not as good as my VA3, I find it overall better due to the better composite output and compact size (the VA3 + SCD2 Combo is gargantuan and a mess of wires).

I have a few issues though.

1. I don't know how to adjust the headphone volume. The dial for the Mic volume does not adjust it. It's set to a fairly loud volume and I wish I could lower it a bit. The owner's manual makes no mention of adjusting headphone volume; I'm truly perplexed.

2. I'm used to the SCD2 autobooting the game. With the X'eye it detects the disc very fast but I have to select "Game" on the CD player screen to actually boot it. EDIT: Checked the owner's manual and this is how the X'Eye BIOS does things.

3. The previous owner put in a blue power LED. It's bright and annoying. I want to put back a red LED that is as close to the original size/brightness/spec as possible. Can someone recommend the proper LED to use?

4. Has anyone figured out how to get SMS games working through the everdrive on this? I figure one way would be to buy a Power Base Mini and a Master Everdrive. But I was hoping there was a workaround for the Genesis Everdrive MD or Mega Everdrive.

You can just load SMS games through the Genesis everdrive, and it will work.

You won't be able to place master system games if you have a 32x attached though. There are also some versions of the genesis that have compatibility issues with the master system. I'm not sure it the X'eye is one of them.

There's no way to adjust anything but the mic volume as far as I can recall. The X'Eye is a strange beast for sure.

I don't think there's any workaround for the ED barring something Krikzz himself would have to do. It needs a hard reset to get into SMS mode while the console is running, and the X'Eye doesn't have that. I have no idea if there's a feasible mod that could be done to the X'Eye for that, but I've never heard anything about one.

What's up Comrade? Sadly the X'eye is indeed problematic with SMS mode on Everdrives. Power Base Converters need case modding to fit too. I'm torn between modding my Master system for FM or buying a Powerbase Mini and playing all my stuff through one system... EDIT: Power Base Mini seems to work but Power Base Mini FM does not work with X'eye. I guess I'm gonna FM mod that Master System after all then.

Ahh, thanks for the insight, Assman. The removal of the Wireless receivers I can understand. The removal of S-Video sucked, but I guess I understood. But the removal of a volume dial for the headphone jack? There's no point in having a headphone jack like that. The WonderMega 2 had two mic jacks and a headphone jack, with 3 variable resistor dials for each one. I would have killed the Karaoke CD+G feature before killing the Headphone volume dial...
