So, when I was sick I finally had time to lay down and play this game and what can I say ? - It's freakin' awesome! I love it! I enjoy playing it much more than I thought I would, and I love every damn second of it. The music is fantastic and so are the graphics. I cannot praise this game enough. In my opinion it's exactly as great as the very best RPGs available for the system, only surpassed by Phantasy Star and Shining Force.

Although it's Chinese it has this certain kind of quality I've only found in Japanese games before. It oozes love for the hardware and has attention to detail written all over it. Playing it is just a lovely expierence.

Indeed, C&E did one hell of a fine job preparing the original title for the Taiwan market. Perhaps they put so much focus into it because it was their last hurrah for the Genesis, and they wanted to close out the 16-bit era in the best possible way - but this may never be known for certain.

What I can say for certain is that when my team got ahold of the game, we treated it with the same respect and careful attention to detail. It was a fun project, despite its size and difficulty, and I'm very proud of what we accomplished.

do any of the action replay's work with this game? quick level up's are always nice for people who don't have the time like they used to.

The problem is that most people who write Game Genie and PAR codes use ROMs to come up with and test the codes in a quick fashion. Beggar Prince does not and cannot exist as a ROM. It's in the Bible.

lol, yeah but the pro action replay and replay 2 have a cheat code finder, just curious if anyone has tried it. It will give me an idea in where on my RPG priority list it would fall since I would have to dedicate more time to it if I have to level up the old fashion way. :p

Beggar Prince was programmed to deter "quick level-ups"; if you attempt to modify RAM to accomplish this, the game will lock up during the level-up process.

Ridiculous Idea Probably Posted 1048292 Times Before.

Someone should doll up a spiffy looking FAQ/Walkthrough for this game, and of course, use a crazy and colorful format for it, like an old gaming magazine layout or something equally ridiculous and oldschool.

Screenshot Maps, Character Art, Cheesy backgrounds with columns of informational text all over the place.

Hell, throw a cheesy full page ad of Wukong in there, print it all up like a mag, then scan the finished product and release it as if it was an oldschool rag.

Do it!

At least it will be infinately better than running into "Wang" jokes on GFAQs for the billionth time.

Put the dragon to sleep before it can heal itself. Then wail on it using, preferably, the Tidal Wave spell. You'll need to put him to sleep several times; after several battles you should be able to successfully gauge when he's going to heal.

I don't see why not.

However, as we only test our product on officially licensed systems / upgrades (and unmodified clones), I can't guarantee it.

Played for an hour today, excellent game!! A Genesis must-have title!

Not yet tested at 10mhz, once I get the machine modded I will report.

Thank you Super Fighter Team for making this definitely my favorite game console again, and bringing this excellent game to the community!

I was doing some hardware testing with a Model 2 yesterday and decided to play some Beggar Prince. I have been playing normally on my Model 1 Hi-Def, and wanted to see how different it was.

The colors tended to bleed into one another making it slightly blurry, and the mono sound really caught me off guard. After playing it with the Hi-Def, the Model 2 sounded really bad. No fault of the game, it was the console. Interesting comparison.

I was using the AV cable, not the RF. I bet mock-stereo would come out with the RF.

Bienvenue sur notre forum !

Move your mouse to the black box. You will see the answer. :)

You must get the key down (south key). It is in the same village where you got the key left (west key). There is a house with a woman and a child inside. Talk to the woman. Then give the woman a milk candy (bonbon au lait). She will give the key down (south key) to you. Then you can return to the city and use the key.

Not much time to play at all, but I got through the Pyramid Dungeon last night, and that was sure fun. I may have time to play more later, who knows.

How hard would it be to port this thing to the Philips CD-i. if I ask really nicely..? j/k, but it would make this system a lot more fun. And the remote-style controller would be handy, too (pad will always be better, but the remote would suffice).

It's a lot less about the potential difficulty and a lot more about the fact that we will very likely never consider working on anything (be it an original game or a port) for the CD-i.

I've been playing around with it a little, and you really have to be hard-core to get into this system and basically have a physical addiction to have to play something.

Conclusion: Games and accessories are expensive when they can be found, controls are not very responsive (I have a remote, no game pad, so consider the perspective), works good as a CD player, not so easy to hook up and takes up more room than it's worth. If you see pone of these in the wild, pass.

I can't blame you for not wanting to develop for this. Not very fun.

I've had a few chances to play, and have one suggestion: Have a hints list of what and where to go. I bet the vampire and got the West Key and have heard about the Lucky coin, and now I am just wandering around and can't figure out what to do next.

So, what the heck do I do next??

You need to get the south gate key. Luckily it's in the same village where you got the west gate key. To get it, you must indulge a child's sweet tooth by giving his mother a milk candy.

I have been seeing this and haven't heard it mentioned yet. When I get to some doors, the entrances look like sand falls or sandy ground. It still plays okay and they are still doors you can go through, just wondered if anyone has seen these besides me. I'll try to youtube it.

It's a well-known bug, likely already mentioned somewhere in this forum thread. It never effects gameplay - it just looks odd. I don't know why C&E left it in, but it would have been too expensive of a programming job for us to have removed it.
