Like, um, I dunno, maybe ports of Scud Race and Daytona USA 2 - Even if they had to remove the Porsche, Ferrari, Dodge and McLaren car names in Scud Race due to licencing.
I mean, the games already exist (Shenmue III does yet). Would only need to be ported. They could probably be brought to 4 consoles (PS3, 360, PS4 and XBone) or even just the current 2.
You guys are all forgetting that it's something like 40,000 backers in the first week. Some folks haven't received a single paycheck yet in order to back it. This Kickstarter can only go higher...

I'm so happy for Yu Suzuki and his team. We have all shown him how much we love his work. The original Shenmue was a seminal moment in my personal history of video games. When I first started up my Dreamcast and saw the epic opening with it's beautiful graphics I actually couldn't believe that a game could be this interactive and have such stunning visuals. I spent a good half an hour just wandering around Ryo's bedroom examining ever tiny detail and opening every drawer, picking up little items here and there as I did so including his walkman and a set of batteries for it. Yu Suzuki was right when he said that Shenmue was an experience, not a game. I can still scarcely believe we'll finally get to finish the saga!

Yes but that doesn't mean fifteen games. Shenmue II for example incorporated two or three episodes in it's story if I remember right. With the power and memory of modern consoles I feel that Suzuki can finish the saga in two, maybe three games. Otherwise that's an awful lot of Kickstarter projects!Quote:

Well. He confirms it on reddit. The game will not complete the saga. Ryo will not return to Japan on this one.
Seeing how he makes a mention on reddit that it will take at least 10 million to make this as immersive an open world experience as the first two games were, I'm starting to take back my hopes for a physical console copy stretch goal. I'd rather see this game fully realized first. If it does, more parts will come. Who's to say we won't see an anthology in the future?
From the reddit interview, though, I'm most stoked about his answer to the terrible depictions of Ryo's and Shenhua's faces. Yu alludes that it will definitely be changed back to the original looks.
I won't hold my breath about original VO cast, though. He didn't answer those questions.
