But the real question is: Can I strip a PCB out of it???

Made my pledge for PS4 copy. Goal almost at 5 million
I went for a physical PS4 copy. I'm sure I will get the game on PC as well but I figure the physical copy of that would just be a download link on a disc anyway.
5 mil on the dot now.
It's usually the last few hours where the kickstarter donations start getting into heat where massive amounts start getting donated.
If they would have had a basic "physical bundle" I would have tossed some money their way. I just want the game, artbook and OST (t-shirt and capsule toy would be fine too)
As they had it, the physical OST would have effectively cost me $75 .
I'll just get the game in 2018 from a clearance sale.

Shenmue 3 has set a new funding record in Kickstarter's video games category, overtaking Koji Igarashi's Bloodstained.
Bloodstained closed on $5,545,991.
11 hours still to go.
If shenmue 3 had a campaign on par with bloodstained we'd have gotten the real "shenmue 3", the one that needed 10mil on kickstarter. Alas, it wasn't meant to be.
I threw down $60 for the physical PS4 copy. Looking forward to it.
Still haven't played Shenmue 2 yet! I'll have to get on that :)

Was he hinting something when he said something about making another miracle?
Currently past the 6mil mark. No other video game kickstatrer can claim that. Go Yu!!
What the hell, you only live once. Physical PC backer here!
TIME.
$6,333,295
shenmue was the first game that i realized i don't care for the open world / job based gameplay. It just seemed like a chore to play the game, you did everything but advance the story i felt at the time. My brother loved it, getting those little eggs and working as a loader. Meh for me.
Hey, if you want to talk to me, meet me at 2 P.M. tomorrow.
*go meet NPC next day to talk*
What? It's 2:01 P.M. It's late. Can't talk now. See me tomorrow if you still want to talk.
*kill a couple of hours or so playing old arcade games the following day*
Hey, I'd like to talk.
OK.
Do you know anything about sailors?
Nope.
OK then.
So...what happens if this never even sees release?
While I do wish Shenmue hit the 11m cap(which it easily would've, if not for the incompetent AJ company handling KS. I hope Yu didn't pay much for them, because they did jack, the fans did all the work), but I agree, history constantly tells us, money limitations in developing a game, always leads to better game design, unless your name is Yu Suzuki... oh crap, that's right, he's developing this game.
Through other much smaller fund raising campaigns, and KS still(once the Paypal option gets added), we might yet still hit 10-11m(although the counter wont indicate such), but in any case, even if not, I'm sure Yu is going to try his best to make a great Shenmue 3
Still, the Shenmue community should feel proud, not only did we shatter multiple world records, we even blew past, what's really the epitome of "quality" mainstream games(oldschool, you know before mainstream turned into a word, that meant utter POS), which is insane(but then again, the Shenmue community was as united as possible, which Castlevania SotN fans most certainly aren't, no doubt because they didn't have to wait 14 damn sears to get similar games or even just ports)
It's such a dream come true, that we're actually getting Shenmue 3(I can't even say Shenmue 3, without still getting goosebumps), now if Sega would stop being dumb, and port Shenmue 1+2 to PS4/PC(hell they don't even need to advertise it this time around, because Shenmue 3, and the fanbase is more then enough advertisements they'll ever need), everything will be perfect :)
As much as I'm loving that III is coming out... I'm annoyed that he's not finishing up the story.
The likelihood of him getting to continue this franchise after this is pretty slim. I doubt a Shenmue 4 kickstarter would pull in the same numbers, and I have a lack of faith in Sony shelling out the money needed to fund it completely... they didn't even want to take the risk on this fully even when they went and used it for a big E3 announcement.
Pessimism.... SMH.
I bet if you guys hit the lottery and won over 100mil, you'd be hunting for something to complain about. Shenmue 3 is damn near a miracle. Just be thankful that we'll get a chance to experience it. Look at it this way, its been ~ 15 years since the release of the original Shenmue and some gamers are not even alive anymore to witness Shenmue 3. Just be thankful. Opportunities like this are indeed golden.
The Ouya was a triumph once released, but it quickly faded in a matter of weeks. The "micro console" revolution was a fad. Look at the Nvidia Shield, do you know anyone who has one? Are the mainstream game sites reviewing games regularly for the Ouya and Nvidia Shield? Nope. Even the PlayStation TV was a flop.
Comparing Ouya to Shenmue 3 is futile.
Shenmue 3 is and will be a reality. How great or poor it will be remains to be seen. But I'd like to be in Yu Suzuki's corner and support his efforts and not shame or condemn them.
BTW, why no pessimism for the Kickstarters Bloodstained or Yooka-Laylee? Aha, pessimists like pick their poison. That damn Shenmue 3 and Yu Suzuki. ;)
You can't blame reviewers for not reviewing games for the Ouya, since first it has to actually have some, and to be fair I wouldn't 'shame' Yu Suzuki has the guy has a record of making absolute classic games and has done since the early 80s.
Also, fuck Yooka-Laylee. Until they change that fucking stupid name fuck it forever. Just no.
I'm still waiting on 90's Arcade Racer.
Oh, I'm hyped for this to be sure. I have no doubt the ideas will be there to make it great, even if the execution may not be all it should be these days due to budget issues, etc.
But still. This was, as I see it, the last chance to finish the story, not just add another chapter.
I'm anticipating loving this... but then having the same reaction as I did to II Awesome, loved it... but when will I ever be able to actually continue it?
I'll absolutely love it IF they can keep going with it, I'd love to see the franchise actually finish up... but it'd been almost 15 years for part 3... how long for part 4 and beyond?
I think he should have just taken this opportunity to finish it up. Leave it open for more possibilities sure. But the main story should have come to a close as he, nor anyone else, has any idea if this will ever be able to happen again.
I'd assume Suzuki would basically be reusing the engine and assets for the following games, reducing the capital needed to go on with a new one. We may not see Shenmue 4 on consoles if the PS4 isn't around or the money isn't there, but that it's coming out on PC as well is a good sign for future-proofing the follow-up releases.
Near a miracle? Shenmue 3 being made "is" a miracle, It's a downright dream come true :)
To Gogogadget: Normally I would be with you on that one, infact I'm prejudice towards KS in general, but this is Yu Suzuki we're talking about here. This wouldn't be the first time he pulled off a magic trick(and 16 years is a long time to wait for part 3, so I'm sure he's going to try his best), as if the 1st game wasn't amazing enough, the 2nd game is infinitely better, and bigger. The 2nd game should've been impossible to make, I would be super interested how he managed to fit a game like 8-10x bigger, with only 1 more GD disc(1.2gigs tops), then the 1st game.
