There's literally no way to prevent that other than ignoring people who vote for Sparkster as their number 2. Clearly they can only be trolling.
You could always just... you know... not do that and just make the top 100 list you want to make :p.

I was joking. Never played Sparkster. But RKA is great for sure.
Mixing 32x, SegaCD and regular Genesis games together is a bit problematic in my opinion. For example, personally I feel that NBA Jam TE on the 32X is definitely better than the Genesis version. But Since far less people ever had a 32x and played that version (let alone ever compared the two), The 32x version is pretty much bound to Wind up with less votes overall. Similar probably also applies to Virtua Racing / Virtua Racing Deluxe and Eternal Champions / Challenge from the Dark Side.
/Edit: in all likelihood, both versions of these games will probably suffer in the overall Rating, since they will probably Wind up splitting their respective votes.
ok so here's mine. Sadly no place for Sagaia, Gaiares, Cannon Fodder, Space Harrier 32X, Columns and many others, damn!
Lots of arcade ports because these games are awesome regardless of how they fare againts their original counterpart. Very few puzzle games. And yes some people are going to put some not top tier games very high just to see them making into the list, but I hope it won't be a trend.
Also ordering 100 games seems quite arbitrary, that is true. I'm feeling my list would change dramatically if I made it 4 hours later. I don't know what Alien Soldier is doing so low.
Also a game having MD, CD and/or 32X versions is going to hurt its chances very much with this method. Algo maybe a 3-4 tier classification instead of 100 ordering could have been easier for us as we all have some top-tier games, some first-class ones, and then the ones with some flaws but great, and the ones everyone should look at even if they are predated by sequels or better similar games:

Totally agree on this, that's why I included NBA Jam TE 32X even if I have always played the MD version. I think votes for those games should be merged, even when there are critical differences between versions (but then they are separate releases, so...).
Same thing also for many CD games like Eccos, or even great PC games like Monkey Island. I would prefer a top 10 32X + top 20 MCD + top 100 MD separate vote system.
My mistake for not clarifying this, for games released across Sega CD, 32X, and stock Genny/MD all votes for all versions will be added into the same total. If say for example 10 people vote for regular Genesis version of Ecco, and another 12 people vote for the Sega CD version, the total for Ecco will be 22 votes, but on the final list the CD version will represent because it got the majority votes. I will specify in the countdown which versions got how many votes. Also this goes for different versions of games like Bare Knuckle 3 vs Streets of Rage 3. If BK3 gets 10 votes and SOR III gets 5 votes, it will tally together for a total of 15 votes(and however many total points), but BK3 will be the representative, same goes for Sonic CD us vs Sonic CD Japan, etc. Be sure to vote for your favorite version of the game.
I would strongly discourage this. Every little point is going to matter here. Somebody that sends a list of 25, those 25 points are going to make a BIG difference in the final rankings. If you just throw games on to pad your points, you are going to give points to games that don't deserve it. I strongly encourage you guys to just do what is comfortable to you. 100 game lists should be reserved for only the hardcore guys like me, I have about 150-200 games that I would love to list so that final 100 will really be hard for me to pin down. Don't pad your lists, put some effort into your list, take the time and try some games out this month, read some reviews and really make something you will be happy with. I trust you.Quote:
I'm not sure the scoring is fair : it encourages to fill the list with whatever comes to mind in order to have the first games high scored.
I've started working on mine, though I struggle to come up with 100 games I'd really want to advocate for. I'll be keeping mine under wraps because of the Spunkwater Effect, but I've enjoyed seeing others' lists.
Homogeneity is a danger with these kinds of lists, but I think part of the reason is that people put what they're "supposed" to put -- typically well-known graphical/technical showcases for the system and acclaimed AAA titles -- instead of what they've really played. I'd gently encourage everyone to focus instead on the games we have experience with & really loved playing, whether or not they're "supposed" to be good.
Yes I hope he just forgot about this one because II is in there, though.
I'm reassured by Nobi's clarification. You could have a problem with sports game's iterations, though. But I guess not many people in here is going to put any Madden in their top 100. I didn't. But I left NBA Jam out since I put T.E. in there. And FIFA, NBA Live, NHL, etc or small 2-3 iterations (Micro Machines, Sampras, etc) could also be affected by that. I guess there's no easy way out of this. Also same thing for games which sequels didn't improve a lot on already awesome games (Vectorman, Earthwom Jim).
As for not forgetting any game, if it helps others, I just picked around 70-80 among the 250 list in the OP of the 'consensus' thread I already linked to in the first page, and then added my 32X & CD favorites, which are more than I remembered, specially when you realize many CD iterations are better than their cartridges (not all of them, as you know).
Heck, I just played through the first 4 levels Doom 32X for the sake of it. What a game. If you didn't know it comes from another platform (and that there are superior ports obviously) you'd all think it's the best cartridge ever made.
I'm with goldenband on this one. I'll be holding off from.publically Posting my list here, at least for now. I already kind of felt tempted to revise my.own choices just from what I read on other peoples' lists. Maybe I'll post my choices After the whole voting is through... Just to see how far I trailed from public consensus. ;)
