GameTrailers basically saying it like it is. Sonic has been bad since the 90s. Some of the spinoff and handheld games have been good, but the rest are either mixed quality or outright bad. I like Sonic Adventure and Generations, but even I admit Big the Cat and modern Sonic (over half of Generations) are awful.
It is time humanity stopped suffering from the delusion that is modern Sonic. Sonic needs to go back to 1995 ASAP or just be killed off. Modern Sonic games are nothing but insults to the Mega Drive era. Games like Jam and Pocket Adventure are tributes, but not really new games.
We need a real 2D Sonic 4, Sonic Xtreme, and remastered Sonic 3, and Sonic 1/2 ported to consoles/PC, and Sonic CD ported to more things (and patched on console/PC with latest mobile features). Sonic 4 basically needs to be restarted.
Games like SEGA All-Stars are good and are SEGA games, not really 'Sonic' games. Sonic holds them back honestly, they would be better if they only had Classic Sonic characters instead of modern.
Classic Sonic and floating burgers/candy made delusions happen.
In the meantime. I'll keep enjoying my video games.

I did not care for Colors in any regard. Never played Generations, but I sold my copy of Colors and forgot about it for the most part. I do not care for Sonic anymore and I also do not care for Mario now either, even though I think Mario has been more consistent in quality.

I think they're both okay games. They both have their issues, but I still think they're some of the better 3D sonic games.
For example, Colors has too much 2D and not enough 3D sections, in my opinion. I like the world designs and aesthetics though. Generations was mostly good, but it was a bit short. The levels were mostly fun, but the themes were things we've already seen. I liked the remixed music a lot though.
To tell you the truth, I liked the modern stages in generations more than the classic ones. That's partly because classic sonic in generations doesn't control like sonic in the Genesis games. They felt like a cheap 2.5D platformer, while the modern stages felt like I would expect them to.
Overall, I think Generations is the better of the two, but they are kind of overrated. Calling people delusional for liking them is going too far though.

I don't care enough to call people delusional for liking other stuff. I think it's pointless to do so. There are a lot of games I like that others despise. In terms of taste and subjectivity of entertainment, I say that its all complimentary most of the time because deriding someone for liking what's not considered good by the consensus is like saying medicines for obscure diseases are pointless because there are less people who need them.

Thanks for an honest statement.
GameTrailers called people delusional, I am just repeating what they said. Sonic Colours sucks (you cannot even roll in it, what is this trash?). Generations is alright, but the physics are off and half the levels or more suck (modern junk). Where is Sonic 3? CD? 3D Blast? R? The GG games? The SMS games? Instead we get 'gems' like Sonic 06 and Heroes (lol...).
Generations never even had Classic Knuckles and Amy. Pretty disgraceful. Chaotix could have been like on 32X too. And there is no co-op or multiplayer like on Mega Drive.
Generations is a good idea, but they need to do a better job. ONLY Classic and stick to the 90s. And more characters, content, levels, bosses, better physics, and better story.
The 3D gameplay in Generations outright sucks. It is boost to win with no rolling. Yawn.
Colors and Generations are fine games. They're not earth shattering classics but they're fun and really that's all Sonic can hope to be at this point. Sonic the Hedgehog is never going to be this grand, industry leading franchise ever again no matter how hard Sega tries or how much the fans want it. "It's OK," is the best Sonic can be anymore.
I still maintain that Sonic needs to go away for a while. Sega needs to stop digging the hole deeper with game after game and give the franchise a rest. Maybe, just maybe if people have a break from it and the franchise can be revisited with a fresh set of eyes and a consumer base that isn't tired of being bludgeoned to death with new, occasionally disastrous games, they can produce something worthy.
It's not going to happen because it still makes them more money than any other game they put out but if quality is the overall concern here, it's what needs to happen.
Or Sonic will just go full-on mobile and that's that.

The Olympics happening every other year won't let him go away for long. (Yes, another Mario & Sonic is already lined up for Rio, this time including an arcade game in Japan.)

The most recent Sonic karting game is a classic, better than all previous Mario Karts combined, but I haven't played the Wiiwee one so I wouldn't judge.
Perhaps Sumo Digital can make a decent Sonic platformer?!

You know, maybe it wouldn't be a terrible idea to hire a company so good at arcade style racers to take a crack at Sonic.

According to a Mario Kart fanboy friend of mine (who owns a Wii U), Sonic All Stars Racing only loses to the very latest Mario Kart 8 (which is the game that made him buy a Wii U).

Mario Kart 8 is a serious step up from Wii and 7, so i'd probably agree with this.
