How much content are we trying to translate here? Is there a word count? Do we have a transcript? My suggestion would be to pay a college student a couple hundred dollars, and crowd fund the translation.

png files are graphic dumps from the game ; if you translate them, please keep the same pic sizes and colors (even if they aren't the in-game colors). If size is really too narrow, I can modify the graphic layout.
If you translate txt files, please use UTF-8 encoding and do not edit the commentaries lines (starting by //).
I don't know what UTF-8 encoding is, and when I looked at it at Wikipedia I knew I wouldn't understand it even if the best teacher in the world taught me about it. I opened captions.txt and just edited the katakana symbols there. It seems like they saved space by not including hiragana symbols and wrote Japanese words in katakana because of that. I used Google translate and some sites to translate those words and I think I got most of them right. They seem to be about environments and military mostly. I couldn't get some words, you'll see. "Collapse" should probably be "Destroyed" or something like that.

For the words you're not sure about, it'll be easy to change them after playing. Shari-Ra seems to be one of the main characters, if not the hero (I don't know but I saw his name several times).
In fact, the UTF-8 thing was irrelevant, sorry : it's important when you use accentued letters, as in French, but for an English translation all characters are the same. Anyway, if you use Windows >= Vista, you are probably using UTF-8 (and indeed you are, I checked).

Yes, shorted words will be no problem. For example "Crack in ground" can probably be just "Crack", since the players will most likely get the context the word is used in. I mean, they won't believe there is cocaine in the game when they see that word alone :P.

OK, here is descriptions.txt. Much harder this time, many places, animals and names. Stuff I'm not sure/don't know about have ? like last time. But I think if you put in the more sure ones and we then play the game, we'll get a better context by the graphics, so we can solve the translations by that. Little by little we can finish this, I'm sure.

Experience shows you can't do a good translation with Google Translate, but always better than nothing. Also, if we can deliver at least a partially translated product, then maybe it'll be easier to find a translator to fill the gaps, and maybe he/she'll be more inclinated towards fixing the previous stuff.

Yes, Google translate has its problems, but singular words like in this case is OK I think. I check on other sites to confirm as well. Words like "Antelope" and "Thunder Cracker" are definitely correct.

OK, I progressed a bit. But this file was very hard. I'm sure I got the weapons right in the beginning, but then I noticed the names of characters were cut, and after a while I started to suspect the dumping of the text has made them in pieces? I put ? on most of those.
I don't know how to proceed now. There are still a few docs left, but maybe we can test a ROM to see how the stuff translated so far looks, if the latin alphabet is included in the game? Also, I can draw small icons of around 2 small letters which can be used when longer words won't fit (was used in Rent A Hero translation). Just give me the palette and size to work with, and the words.

I'm with the other guy who suggested paying someone to do it, that's better than never seeing it done despite being against how things are done in the romhacking community. Even translating games is illegal, not just paying for translations, so...

For the moment, it'll look awful, because most of the text has very narrow captions, probably much too narrow for even shortened text to display. It'll take time for me to edit the menu layouts and determine which width will be sufficient. I'll do it, but not immediately, since I'm currently on another project.

Not really a necro : the project is paused for now. I'm currently finishing Lord Monarch translation, next I plan to go back to my project Shinobi, and at some time I'll make a patch for Phantasy Star Generations (2 bugs have been discovered and I must fix them).
I approached and was approached by several people for The Hybrid Front. Nothing definitive for now but I'll let you know when I'll have something new.
Tryphon, one of our most devoted Sega fans and an ardent translator would likely be willing to help you. I'm not sure if he talked to you already, but I believe his name on here is Bramsworth, and 'introless' on NintendoAge. He's a friend of mine and has done his share of work, including Moon for PSX. I am glad to see more Genesis games get the translation efforts they deserve. If Hybrid Front gets translated, then the only other high-tier Genesis RPG/Strategy game to do next in English will be Surging Aura, which has eluded hackers and translators for numerous reasons, but there's still hope. But then again, I may be jumping to conclusions too soon to say there aren't other gems waiting to be translated. I for one, am interested in a translation of Dyna Brothers 2.
Sorry for hijacking the thread for this one post tryphon. :) Well, I talked with RedComet about Surging Aura. Me and one other guy will likely take a bash at translating the game soon enough if all goes well (that is to say, once RedComet lets me in on the details). It was translated into Russian and French a long time ago, by the way - I guess the English-speaking community wasn't really interested in the game "that" much all things considered. Still, it does deserve to be translated into English. One other game I can think of is Dragon Slayer II - The Legend of Heroes (part 1 is available in English on PC-Engine CD already)...
Unfortunately, nobody seems interested in those historical Japanese sims. Ninja Burai Densetsu is another that looks good, then there's Taiga Drama or whatever it's called.
^I'm interested in both of those! Not coincidentally, I also own both games. :D Picked 'em up for a great price a while back, but have never really played either one.
I know Ninja Burai Densetsu is on tryphon's radar (though if we keep putting things on his radar he'll look like an overworked air traffic controller). I'm certainly curious about NHK Taiga Drama: Taiheiki; if the script is the same as the PC Engine version, we might be able to get some folks on that side of the aisle to help.
What ever happened to that Water Margin game that used to be titled "Tiger Hunter Hero Novel" in the old GoodSet? That one looked promising too, though it was Chinese, not Japanese. I know Fengshen was picked up by Piko.
Ninja Burai Densetsu is alright, plays kinda similar to games like Vixen 357 for example, although it's more rock-paper-scissor like. It has little text actually, so it's probably more of a pain to hack than to translate. Bahamut Senki is another game like that I can think of, although it does play somewhat differently from what I recall... also, are there any pure adventure games left for the system? I can't think of any at the moment...
What about the Lord Monarch game for MD?
Concerning Lord Monarch, I said 5 days ago in this very same thread that I'm working on it (along with cccmar, and 2 other people). It's in the final stage : the script is completely translated (we say 99.9 % in case we find an untranslated text, but it's very unlikely), I implemented a Variable Width Font, hacked menus,... For now we are replaying the game, in order to localize and fix bugs the VWF produced (I totally replaced the display routines, and the text positionning is pixel-wise rather than tile-wise, it necessarily introduces problems), to find out some cosmetic problems (add some space in interface to allow for longer words, fix some icons,...) and to polish translations (bad line cuts, expressions to change,...). There are also 2 bugs I need to give a look at, one which was on the original version, and another with the SRAM (I had to increase the ROM size, it's now a 3 MB cart and cautions have to be taken with the SRAM ; seems I forgot to take at least one). It's hard to give a release date, but it shouldn't take too long. BTW, it seems to be a very nice game :)
Concerning Hybrid Front : this project is among my top priorities (but it's not alone). Hiei- already translated a bunch of text that should allow me to work out the 1st battle. The problem with HF is that it's a nightmare to hack. Not that the code is especially difficult, but the interface is overcrowded. Words are very short, even with katakanas, and English words take twice as much space on the screen. So I have to implement various VWF, heavily editing the menus. I have worked a lot on this title, but the result is not good enough yet. Also, working with this title is quite painful (the game seems to have its qualities, but fun doesn't seem to be one of them ; maybe when I'll be further).
Concerning Surging Aura, cccmar asked me to dump the script a while ago. I'm okay with that, but not with hacking the game if RedComet is still working on it. But since it seems cccmar got contact with RedComet, I guess my help is not needed anymore (and I'm happy with that : I'm not sure to live long enough to finish my to-do list :) )
Concerning Ninja Burai Densetsu : yes, I'm interested in the game, and it's on my list. But not in the top part. I have also other games in sight, like Magical Taru-whateverthename, Super Daisenrakyu, whose translations have been submitted here, or Bahamut Senki.
I have also other projects, like Shinobi arcade and other homebrews on the MD (Wonderboys, Black Tiger, Maldita Castilla, a kind of Shmup, a Tetris, a kind of breakout), and I'd like to go back to homebrew after Lord Monarch (because hacking is fun in the beginning, and bothersome in the end :) ).
Thanks for that translation on Psy O Blade Tryhon and I look forward in this translation. Just got a Everdrive and so glad that the all these Mega Drive games are getting translations especially finding out Vixen 357 got translated, hoping it will be good like the Langrisser games. :D
It actually was a semi-sequel to another game, Hisou Kihei XSERD on PC-Engine, but it's true that this mini-franchise never really took off. Both games are also easier than Langrisser, and can be beaten much quicker. Hybrid Front seemingly plays rather similar to those games, but it is apparently much more difficult and involved (and it seems to have way more script as well).
Yeah, Hybrid Front has lots of script, even in the middle of a battle when you accomplish something like beating one of the enemy groups you are subject to some slightly big dialogue sometimes. And as far I can notice, it's not your standard strategy RPG when it comes to how you assign character duties, other than terrain and hit-miss probability. Later stages become really crowded with enemies in a way you can take a long time beating it. The game seems to be pretty picky with these issues.

Just looking for some advice, Tryphon, but can you tell me what emulator/hex editor/programming language, etc. is often used in your projects? I'd like to dabble in some rom hacking myself, but don't have much experience, though I did tinker here and there with it many years ago.
Emulators : I use mainly Gens-r57shell, it has a good load of useful features for hacking (breakpoints, watchpoints, viewers, slowmode, trace, and I should learn Lua one day). Some of them are bugged though (dumps, and trace can be wrong sometimes). I also use Regen or Exodus rarely, mainly for debugging routines (Exodus is just too slow on my machine, else I'd use it much more).
Disassembler : an old version of IDA, with a MD plugin. IDA is unvaluable, in any sense of the word since it's more than expensive. The version I have was given to me by a rhdn user, I'd be surprised if it's the free version, but it seems an old free version can handle 68000. I guess I use 0.1% of its features :)
Assembler : asm68k I think, but I'm not sure (I switched several times ; it says "ASN 68k version 2.53" on my console). Any should be good enough (you don't use many macros or advanced features for hacking).
General purpose : python, for coding decompressors, compressors, ressource dumpers, ressources insertions, hack insertions.
Hex editor : HxD, but any will go. CrystalTile hex editor sometimes, because it handles .tbl files (games rarely use ASCII). But contrary to most romhackers, I hardly use hex editor at all.
Tile viewer : Tile molester. But then again, I don't use it too often (only when I have no idea where some gfx is stored, and I hope it's uncompressed).
I want to emphasize the fact that hacking (I mean deep hacking, not just redraw some uncompressed tiles or changing letters in text) is not easy : not only you must have some coding knowledge (asm, data structures, compressions) but also you almost never disassemble the whole game (it's too log) so you must localize parts of the code in a mostly totally mysterious huge code. I personnally find it more difficult than coding from scratch. OTOH, it's often interesting (and sometimes frightening) to see how the coders from the time handled different aspects.
So most romhackers use hex editor? That's a bit unexpected.
My experience with a hex editor was once when I went on a crazy 3 day binge with barely any sleep (because I was so into it) trying to figure of the Sega Saturn save file of Shining Force 3. There was a Game FAQ guide on it, but it was based off a really early version of SSF, so it was offset pretty badly with the new ones I was using. That and it wasn't complete enough. So I went further trying to figure out the rest. Lucky nobody has to do this anymore as someone at SFC made a save file editor for SF3. There's a very good reason why SF3 files take up all of Saturn's space for just one Scenario, there's so much data stored on it. Like accessing unused maps, weapons and characters. Heck, you can even edit a battle map for a custom battles, though very limited since it only save a battle map data one at a time, sadly. I was also able to learn a lot more about the game just from figuring out most things on that safe file.
But yeah, that's my story on how I learned what hex numbers even mean. :p Can be downright addicting (why I lost a ton of sleep for 3 days) when it's for a game you really love.

I have a very limited japanese knowledge and I'm using the google translate app in conjuction with a dictionary app and my electronic dictionary to get through.
I am not polishing it or anything, just making it have a meaning and some style.
Eventually this should be done and usable as a script for who wants to enjoy the game or something.

Everything is translated up to where I played, being the beginning of scenario 6, battle of Ceylon island.
The game has a huge amount of text which is extremely well written, with good dialogue and nicely varied characters. You can tell they hired a sci-fi novelist (Masahiro Noda).
I am speeding up my translation by using google translate, yes, but it's not some garbage effort as I do have some (little) degree of knowledge and tools in order to make good sense out of everything. Just to say it's not professional level, there might be slight mistakes, and it's certainly not polished (yet) but there's no bullshit or made-up stuff.
I recently went through other 2 MD games that weren't translated (Battle Golfer Yui like 1month prior to fantranslation and Madou Monogatari I) and fully understood all of the text, but Hybrid Front is on another level, with slangs, technical terms and just really good narrative.
Particularly Battle Golfer Yui had no kanji and Madou Monogatari is, well, a kindergartner's story so it's exactly at the other end of the spectrum.
The beginning of the pastebin also has a link to a full translation of everything story related in the manual and of the big chart that comes with the game.
I suppose I should also translate all the ingame commands and scenario objectives..
When I'm through with this, anybody should be able to play the game by referring to this script for translation. (heck you could even start now, it's a lot of gameplay up to scenario 6)
Or tryphon could read this and get motivated to resume work on his translation hack for this.
By the way the coolest thing is how you unlock huge character portraits in the bios in the ingame character index, and how these portraits are big pixelizations of Jun Suemi's artworks, and also how most of these aren't even in the manual.
Scenario 1:
Sharila, leader of Mules' Noir group, is traveling on the Silkroad Highway, the link between Europe and Asia, providing supplies to the population along with Paul (refer to the translated character sheets above).
They get raided by an organized group and fight them off while being reached and supported by Gennoujo and Peter (again, info above).
They move on to Samarkand (Uzbekistan) to repair their vehicles and rest, while wondering about the cause of the attack: Sharila blames herself, stating that it wouldn't have happened if he didn't have this black case around..
The black case seems to be an important key item at the start of the game, and it's speculated it could be military info, maybe about Cocoon or PETO. Sharila also has a data disk laying around.
Scenario 2:
While in Samarkand, the same group from before (led by the same bald guy) attacks and opens multiple breaches through the city walls.
Paul: "This is bad... What do we do?"
Sharila: "No choice but to bust through."
Enemy Captain: "If the information is correct, it should be here.. Don't let the one with the vehicle escape! Hunt them down!!"
"YES SIR!"
Peter: "Everybody is in disarray! This ain't looking pretty!"
1 round ensues-
Fellow soldier: "Fuck!! What do we do?!"
Gennoujo: "Open up a breach in the siege circle and escape in the desert!"
Soldier: "I'm right behind you!"
At round 4:
Jin, Simon and Boku appear (refer to character info on link above)
Jin: "Is anybody on the radio?? Can anybody hear me?"
Peter: "Is that voice Jin's..? This is Peter, are you nearby?!"
Simon: "Simon here. Read.
I heard everything. Battle preparations en route. Over."
Boku: "It is indeed as you say. It certainly is not a good situation."
Paul: "??"
Upon escape:
Peter: "Is everybody alright?"
Paul: "I can manage.. But Samarkand is already pretty wrecked.."

Having been fighting and repairing her vehicle since the day before, Sharila's fatigue is at the limit.

Sharila gets started with the repairs while others eat. The Landmaster's repairs to the hatch and the table come through easily.
"She's gonna collapse, at this rate.." Said Paul, munching on his Cocoon soy bar.
"She's gotta feel responsible.", replied Gennoujo, cup in hand.
Then Jin, muttering: "She might as well! She's doing useless things anyw--"
Simon clenches his arm around Jin's head.
"Ow!!"
Everybody chuckles a tadbit and Peter, at the scene's sight, says: "I guess what goes around comes around, eh?"
Sharila comes back, carrying her toolbox. She sits down, covering her exhausted expression with both hands.
Sharila: "I'm done. It's not long before New Delhi, let's leave now."
There are no objections.
Scenario 3
A mystery calls for another mystery
New Delhi.
One of the few surviving cities after the Orbital War, and also PETO's South Asia capital.
They're finally getting there, and for a reason.
They started moving towards the Lexus district.. but now they're in a car, in the Indian Highway.
Peter got sick.
The radio has been ringing for 2 minutes straight, no sign of stopping.
Peter had no choice but to pick it up..
"WHETHER YOU BELIEVE IT OR NOT--"
Jin's voice blasted directly throught the uditive nerve.
--mentions something about bandits, Sharila, and the data disk.
Peter: "I don't trust PETO! Until we know about what data is in the disk, it'd be uncautious to--"
Jin: "-- And to make things worse, they were searching all over, telling people to do their part too!!"
Peter: "Listen.."
As peter murmured, trying to calm Jin down, a shadow fell upon him from the sky.
"It's the observation drone, Jinny.."
Boku's calm voice interrupted the line.
As soon as Peter hears that, he activates the alarm status on the radio communications, but gunfire explosions start at that moment.
*Battle screen: the drone starts bombarding the area*
Simon: "It's them."
Paul: "That all you got?"
Sharla: "This is a good chance! We'll force them to reveal their true identity!"
Enemy tank pilot(Leader): "It's like the captain said... All units, listen up! The second phase of the strategy starts with this battle!"
Enemy soldier: "..The drone is good, but..

There's a vehicle wreckage in front of them, and it's the same model as the assailants, sovSharla crawled out from her distorted hatch.
"There's no doubt. This is PETO army's standard rig.."
Sharla's tone is serious, and everyone stays silent.
"In other words, -says Gennoujou, breaking the silence- all of that machinery was PETO army standard equipment.."
"--Gimme a break!! -shouted Jin- Those guys were from PETO's army, that's a fact!! Those bastards!!"
Sharla calmly says: "I don't remember..", then looks up at the sky: "He said that spaceship came from "sky".. that it was the beginning of everything.."
Scenario 4
Base Infiltration Strategy: first part
The eight of them are at an empasse. That's the situation Sharla and the others are in.
If the assailants were with PETO, then denouncing that to Lexus would only get the report hushed.
Furthermore, even if this was exposed to the world, they wouldn't believe the evidence based on some wreckage.
Also, if they did that, the result would be an open conflict between the Mules and PETO.
To carry on, they must do nothing..
Time passes with no good ideas on what to do.
There's a grim look on everyone..
Then, out of nowhere.. Boku starts chuckling. Eyes barely opened up to that point, she now opens them wide:
"Cute drone, I which manufacturer are you from?"
Boku pulls out the Nerve Linkcode from her neck, then continues:
"We could reverse-engineer the drone's dataflux and identify the positioning of that enemy unit base. How should we proceed?"
Gennoujo, laughing: "Way to go, lady!! Well then yall, wouldya like to drop by them guys'? For a greeting 'sall.."
Peter sighed: "Well, the old man is high in spirits."
Nobody had a say against that.
Now they could infiltrate in the enemy base..
Sharla: "This will be annoying.."
Paul nodded at Sharla's words: "Let's get up there quickly. I have a bad feeling.."
Paul's premonition was right..
As the group enters the base, red lights flash, an alarm sounds and the gate locks behind them.
Enemy soldier: "Unidentified intruder!"
Enemy leader (same portrait as the drone-fight leader): "What?! They absolutely can't live!!"
Enemy soldier: "Yes, sir!"
Vold: "Vold here, I'm coming too. Quickly confirm the intruder identity!"
Soldier: "Understood, Commander!"
Sharla: "This is bad.. We're found!"

Gennoujou: "Ooh.. The enemy is pulling out.."
Paul: "Phew-- ..In the meantime, let's think about how to get out!"
Sharla: "No use! ..Try finding a clue to get out!"
Simon: "This is Simon. Sharla, Boku, come here.."

Jin's patience is at its limit. Finally, it runs out, and Jin shouts out loud:
"Lady!!! How long still?"
Tampering with a portable computer from a sturdy case, Boku calmly replies: "Not yet... Children should be quiet."
In the control room of the assailants' base, Boku and Jin are deciphering the DATA DISK on a cryptanalysis machine found by Simon.
It's a hard and difficult process, and if done wrong, the data about the security machines would be ruined.
Then the decryption process finally concludes.
"T-this...?!" -Murmurs Boku at the screen. Then, as in reply to that, alarm sounds ensued.
"W-what is iiit?!" -Screams Jin, who was checking the control room equipment.
The same alarm sounds in the Hangar.
Sharla, startled, shouts: "What alarm is it?!"
Boku entered radio communication.
Sharla: "Boku!! What is this alarm?!"
Boku answers simply:
"..It's the self-destruct system..."
Paul: "Are you sure about it??"
Paul shouts and starts the engine.
Gennoujou: "The lady deciphered the disk. No use thinking twice now."
Peter, on Gennoujou's side: "...Well well..."
Scenario 5
Base Infiltration Strategy (part two)
The troop quickly moves away. A blast roars in the air, and a huge amount of dirt and sand arises.
Gennoujou: "Hahahaha! No big deal!"
Peter started to lose his temper:
"And you're laughing! All for your stupid plan..."
Sharla: "Shut up, you two!!
Boku, what about the content of that disk?"
Boku: "It's a blueprint... Somewhat complex.. For a power plant? A weapon?..Moreover, the data format..."
Boku stops a bit.
"It's Cocoon's."
Paul: "What's that?.. Couldn't hear clearly, somebody explain?"
Simon, silent until now, calmly answers: "It's clear that some organization is trying to take or destroy that blueprint.."
"That's right!" -Gennoujou strongly chips in: "And they seem to know what they're giving up on!"
In front of them, a new enemy group tries to lay an even bigger force down...
Vold: "This time we are getting them!"
Enemy soldier: "Yes, sir!"
Jin: "Just from where are they getting this much of a force, now?"
Sharla: "Either way.. No choice but to fight!"
Gennojou: "Haha! Well said!"
(upon defeating Vold himself in battle: )
Vold: "Ngh... Do it!"

Enemy Soldier: "Captain! It's an air caravan, with the same armaments as those guys!"
Vold: "Not good... Ok, all units! Commence strategy phase two! Send the intel to PETO's army HQ!"

The air transport caravan piloted by Mama Louise.
This flagship, "Madame Louise", is the biggest ship capable of vertical take-off and landing.
To no surprise, the interior is also huge and acts as a kind of mobile base.
The party goes to the briefing room inside the Madame Luise.
Paul: "Well.. What a shame..", Paul says with an admired voice.
Gennojou: "Compared to us, it's night and day", says Gennojou with a bitter smile.
Louise shows up in the room. With her are a beautiful woman, like a model, and a little old man.
Paul goes open-mouth, and Sharla steps on his foot, frowning.
Louise: "Let's skip introductions!"
Louise approaches the screen engraved in the wall, and continues: "Let me see this video first."
It's a news program.
"..A PETO spokesman made an emergency press conference on recent shooting episodes and attacks on PETO troops...
It was reported that the reconnaissance unit on patrol was hit by a raid, yesterday, and it was annihilated. Also, the picture recorded at the time was released to the public.."
The picture shows them fighting on the India Highway...
The newscast continues:
"As we can see, the assailant is a team of Mules. The military decided to strengthen control over the mules. There might be a second ban on armed Mules."
Louise: "Well.."
Louse calmly stopped the video and slowly said:
"Won't you let me hear a detailed story..?"
Peter murmured while sighing: "..Well, well.."
Intermission play 1
Sharla and the others were labeled as criminals, having attacked the PETO military. It had a great impact, and PETO and the Mules were now in difficult terms..
What's the identity of these attackers, who with the equipment of the PETO army, attack both Mules and PETO troops?
Where does Sharla's disk come from?
What is its use?...
And.. Who is manipulating everything behind the scenes?..
..Everything is still unclear, and the truth hides in the shadows...
Fellow Mules joined Sharla's growing force, but they can no longer count on PETO's patronage...
Can Sharla, who became isolated and unsupported, carrying the stigma of shame, reveal the truth?..
Scenario 6
The battle of Ceylon island (Part one)
Madame Louise.
The air was heavy in that briefing room.
Mama Louise: "..I get the story, more or less..", said Louise slowly.
"But to be honest, I don't entirely understand what's going on.."
Gennojou: "Well then that's the same as us!" Said Gennojou, nodding.
Gennojou: "Assuming the enemy is actually PETO army, it makes sense to attack us if they're after the disk.. But I wonder what's their gain, isolating us with that picture.."
Sharla: "Exactly. And as a bonus, there's the weapon ban.. It wasn't good between Mules and PETO already, but this is bad!"
After Sharla's words, everyone is silent again.
Then Boku quietly said: "Uuhm, lady, is it alright if I borrow this terminal?"
At Louise's nodding, Boku, heading for the terminal, continued:
"In truth, when I was decrypting the cipher, I also.. borrowed some information from the base's database."
Gennojou, with a laugh: "Borrowed! She's like a lil' lady!"
With Gennojou's laughing voice, the heavy air was blown away.
The huge amount of data took several hours to analyze. And then..
Peter: "Well well... Ceylon island, huh?"
Peter instinctively got gloomy.
Boku: "Yes. The disk has this Ed Cooper name. That is separate information, probably added after the blueprint. Maybe, if that's the recipient.." -Explained Boku.
Paul: "And a person by the same name is captured by those guys and sent to the "Prison Island" of Ceylon, huh?"
Continued Paul.
"It's decided" -Said Gennojou with a firm voice- "We're gonna help that guy, it's clear!!"
Gennojou looked at everyone nodding and continued: "Well then, how should we call the team? How's "Scarab" soundin'?"
Paul: "What about "Shit rollers"? Why, I think it'd be perfect for us!"
At Paul's words, everybody but Gennojou laughed and laughed...
(In battle the team is now called Scarab team.)
Paul: "..You said this time it was our turn, eh?"
Mama Louise: "Looks like getting there isn't gonna be easy. My comrades came back from the scouting, and it looks like their vigilance system caught them..."
Sharla: "As expected from the "Prison Island", it looks like a dangerous place, hm?"
Simon: "Fine work isn't going to do it.."
Peter: "Well well..."
That's awesome, thanks a ton for your efforts! I think tryphon will return to The Hybrid Front when he's done with the Shinobi port (http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showthr...108#post816108). I'd really like to read your translation, but I'm a purist at heart and would only do it when in the game itself (hope you get what I mean :)). Did you say somebody is hacking Madou Monogatari I? :)
Just wanted to say that we're halfway done with this translation more or less (still plenty of technical/polishing work left though, and more than 10 missions left to translate), so there will be a patch coming, most likely this year. ;) As Goati says, Masahiro Noda did an amazing job with this script - there's also separate text for the biographies, historical index, all the different victory/losing conditions etc. High time this got done. :) I think this game may have more text than Surging Aura, actually (upon comparing the size of both scripts).

Wait, I had no idea there was already a translation on the way...
Can I get the script translated so far so we can join efforts (if you'd like to, because really I just wanna enjoy the game doing less "work" translating it off-stream.. I'm playing it right now.)
I was just doing it to enjoy the game and show what the plot is like. I gave for granted, after reading this thread, that nobody was working on the script.
