I am surprised people are still talking about this, really. I can't really imagine playing an FPS on a Super Nintendo let alone a Genesis.
You can play a FPS on a genesis. There was a mouse for those who perfer it.
Who thought Treasure was capable of what they did.I don't see a person developing a FPS for the genesis using an emulator but anything is possible as we learn more tricks.I belive with proper programing know how and a real genesis devlopement kit it is possible. As for tricks look at virtua fighter 2 for the stock genesis. And someone must own a original genesis devlopment kit used by a company once. Its out there, we as a fan base need to find it.
Duke Nukem 3D on the Genesis to me, is a work of art. It has an interesting way of rendering, that gets around the limitations.
The only thing I can't stand about it, is the excessive use of dithering. On an NTSC TV though, it's hardly noticeable..
Here's an example.. I use the NTSC emulator on my Genesis Plus (Mac) emulator..

Wow, that's pretty amazing considering.
Can anyone actually play past the first level? This game is absolutely INSANELY difficult in that "I have no health and the enemies are godly" sort of way.
So im not the only one! XD I thought I sucked bad at the game or something...
Nope, never made it past the first. ;) I don't see any kind of powerups..
Join the club.
By the way, did anyone ever determine if this release was legal? If it was, why has there never been any box art or anything else.
The box art looks like the title screen on front and the on back is all in I BELIVE spanish, which is not brazils native language. The manual is thick and printed on plain paper. The more I think about it I think it was programed by another group perhaps a pirate outfit and then sold to tec toy who did some modifications.
Well, without a doubt, the companies listed on the beginning of the game, besides TecToy, did NOT authorize the game.. I remember reading that it was an illegal game, but TecToy said it was a legit game.
3drealms the company that devloped the pc original of duke nukem 3d and copyright holder of duke nukem in general has never said anything.I do remember a interview I read somewhere on the net, and one of 3drealms programers said nothing on the matter. The interview actually said that the man changed the subject.Too be honest in my opinion the company did give the go ahed for tec toy.I have done alot of research on the company and am a regular visitor to their site NOT fourms. They were originally called apogee and published id softwares early titles from commander keen to wolf 3d and where known for duke only after Duke Nukem 3D came out when they had so many other titles like rise of the triad.
Sometimes I don't even believe TecToy is legit in any way. All they do is crappy remakes/repackages and shady custom 5000-in-1 stuff.
I did hear that they were legit at one time.
That time was the early master system to early genesis days. But now I don't belive they are legit.

The Blobs to legit to quit.
I did know Apogee was the original Duke.. Was playing it earlier today on my old PC..
Wikipedia has this to say:Obviously wikipedia is user contributed (and hence they need citations), but that's all I know about the situation...Quote:
In 1998, it was also ported to the Sega Mega Drive by Tec Toy [5]. The obscurity of this port (it was released only in Brazil) has frequently led to it being mistaken for an unlicensed "hack". It is not based on any other game made for the Mega Drive, instead it was programmed from the ground up by Tec Toy. 3D Realms claims that the port is not legal[citation needed], but Tec Toy maintains that it was licensed by now-defunct publisher GT Interactive[citation needed].

I do like the TecToy Genesis model, kinda cool... (the one i saw before, a genny 2 called a genny 3 i believe.)
