I reckon all hardcore Mega Drive collectors would like a copy of the infamous Duke Nuke 'Em. The problem most of us have is the cost and finding a copy complete with box and manual. Other than those two minor problems I don't know why we're all bitching.
What would be the point in setting up a thread about Duke Nuke 'Em? It would only mutate into a discussion on Wolfenstein.
Look I have played all the duke nukems I,II,3D,etc.As a kid I wanted to be duke.
But in the end its not possible on stock genesis.32x-CD might be.But I have worked with the build engine(trying to set it up and have a fair understanding of the tech involved).So it is a mood issue.It cannot be done.Why do you think the saturn version ran off the slavedriver(powerslave) engine?It is hard to port.
We have established that wolf 3d can be done on genesis.But why wolf?
Why not a new game spacific to the genesis?

The Saturn version of Duke ran off the Slavedriver engine mainly because the developer of Powerslave got the rights to Duke on Saturn. Their Slavedriver engine already existed on Saturn and ran quite well. Not only is it quicker to port maps and sprites rather than the whole game, but the Slavedriver engine was actually a significant improvement (fully 3D environments, dynamic lighting, etc). Even if the Build engine had been the easiest engine in the world to port, it still would've made much more sense to use Slavedriver.Quote:

On another note... Wolfenstein 3D is simple enough that it would definitely be feasible on Genesis. But how about something like Ultima Underworld? Too much?
Unless you want 0 frames per second.Ultima underworld is not possible on the genesis mainly because of some polygons used to help render things.When john carmack made wolf 3ds engine he had one thing on his mind speed.Which could only be accoplished by forced 3d graphics.Raycasting.
Rather than have Ultima underworld if it was possible I would want Hexen.
I never liked medevil settings or ultima.

To sum up what he said is I will never program anything for nintendo again because of their censorship.
Doom 64 was not even an id product it was devoloped in house at midway.
And for that I'll agree with Carmack.
Their censorship of games angers me more than anything else they have ever done.
They preached about how their games were suitable for children but "bent the rules" for MK2 when a lot of $$ was at stake. Talk about two-faced. How come only MK2 was allowed?
What do you mean by no homebrew effort about anything for Genesis? Ever heard of Tavern RPG (the best RPG on Genesis), Mighty Mighty Missile and Teenage Queen?Quote:

Yeah, I forgot about Teenage Queen... Which I still think is a waste of time, but whatever. Tavern RPG isn't a port, and Mighty Mighty Missile came out years ago (so it doesn't exactly qualify as a current effort).
I still want a Genesis port of Rick Dangerous.
Dangerous Dave in the Haunted Mansion by id software needs a port with more levels and use of genesis color palette.
