Something about owning a thing like that is pretty cool, knowing that everything inside will be (hopefully) pristine and that.
I know a few folks from the wrestling figure collecting community (each to their own I guess?) and they love finding old ones in pristine condition, sadly all of mine are ruined because of all the fun I just happened to have when I was a kid. Bummer.
I just cherish the time I spend actually playing games instead of loving their absolute pristine/brand new condition, but we're all different.
The joy in sealed collecting is related to mankind's fear of death and desire for immortality....
..... or some such funny business.
Anybody wants sealed Shantae? lol

(no idea how serious they're about this but why not)
On the topic, I don't know. I derive no joy from owning sealed games. I open any sealed games that I purchase so that I can play or rip/dump them, although I only buy cheap ones as I see no additional value in buying sealed games other than relatively guaranteed condition. Yes, I can take pleasure in owning something rare, but I want to enjoy its original reason for being, not have it sit untouched like some kind of trophy.
The irony is that you can't really be sure unless they are opened. Even with sealed games there is the possibility that damp could have penetrated through any slight compromise in the seal (seen this more than once: sealed game, rusted staples and old book/damp smell on the manual), or that the game itself is no longer functional (especially with games on magnetic media). With floppy disk games I can imagine it becomes like wine collecting: you don't dare ever open them because you'll likely discover that the contents have spoiled.
Can we please just split that into its own thread? (・~・)
Theres about 1/5 of the gun violence the US has, per population as well to account for the sizes of countries.
Also don't see your point about Iceland, you said countries with guns have higher murder rates. Iceland has guns, and not significantly higher murder rates.
But then why even bother explaining things to you as you are literally wrong about everything.
