PC players stopped playing COD for a variety of reasons, a few of my own personal reasons...
Franchise fatigue, loss of dedicated servers, incredibly dumbed down multiplayer with features removed, crappier maps and too many perks and random occurances instead of being skill-based.
It's not like some random hate against the jock-filled world that is COD, it's just that it isn't a particularly engaging game and if you have a PC you have far better options available to you.
My purchases never rely on opinions from paid endorsements or by those who make a living in said market. Joe Schmo from (insert gaming site here) doesn't do a thing for or against me purchasing a game, console, etc.., Your car and driver example is great....against your argument. A straightforward and relatively honest dialogue is coming from those w/o a monetary horse in the race. Honestly, I will have great reservations against someone who shows up every year at E3 and gives an opinion that, for some odd reason, tends to be looked upon as the written word.Quote:

Hilarious. The PS2 sold over 155 million consoles. Guitar Hero and Madden 2001 were amongst two of its best selling titles at about 1.5 million and 1.2 million copies sold. Surely with such "terrible" sales numbers those franchises died immediately and their publishers went bankrupt, right? And somehow you know all of these details and statistics about consoles and software sold without going to resources written by paid shills? And how would you know what Car & Driver is telling you, if you object to reading articles written by paid professionals? I happen to own a pretty high-end gaming PC, and also have a decent gaming PC in the living room. Yet, I wouldn't need such hardware if all I played were PC games meant for the more casual audience. The COD franchise doesn't float with the PC enthusiast crowd , because the game was made for entry level players that just want to have a social gathering with their friends on their inexpensive consoles. The Battlefield games are a far superior online fps than COD, and someone that plays COD would get absolutely trounced playing Battlefield.Quote:

The article also pointed out that even though people play COD everyday, that doesn't mean that they can even be considered gamers. COD is just as much a social gathering, as it is about gaming. MMO's have always been a social gathering, and it is only the most hardcore that get entrapped in the long hours of grinding that a good portion of the players won't do.

The documentary covered an underground market in Russia, where middle class Americans paid foreigners to play WOW for them, so they could have a character with enough clout to hang with the more obsessed (higher level character) members of their clan. My wife has reservations when I tell her I want to buy a pig and dispatch it myself. You can not get any fresher than doing it that way. I'd like to smoke an actual pig rather than just a butt or shoulder but I can see bringing one home then deciding I wanted to keep it rather than eat it.
Edit: IMO this is the month when we start the process of better releases than the month of release. Lego Undercover was a solid game and one I never completed so it may offer a purchase. MK8D at the end of the month is a win. Arms next month but Nintendo can easily strike out if it doesn't offer a thorough play rather than repetitive nonsense.

I've been meaning to do what JCU mentioned. Although I would prefer to either hunt boar in the wild, or buy at a family owned pig farm around here. Either way, it's gonna get cooked whole in my backyard.
We Cubans have this thing we call the Caja China (Chinede Box). I'm thinking of buying one of those myself.

Around here we can't go in the woods and hunt porky pig because I don't think the swine in question is wild but rather, domesticated. I believe we do have wild boar and such but that's different and really, it's difficult finding "unique" pieces of meat. The Pollacks in the area make kielbasi as a staple at nearly every where butcher, market, etc.., Try to find a non cured/smoked pork belly to make bacon though. Of course pork is plentiful at any grocery store but even w/o experiencing it, I would bet everything I own preparing one right from slaughter tastes much better.Quote:

Oh, I agree it's unacceptable.

Although I'm sure they will avoid any advance RMA's with this, meaning in the end it's all the same once you initiate the process. Send unit in, wait for it to get back.
This shit they really need to send the unit to you first, then let you pack the old one up in the box to send back with a pre paid shipping label.
Btw, I went down the comments sections after you mentioned YouTube, and you can see a lot of folks are admitting to having the same issue.
Funnily-enough, most of the comments read a lot like they did in forum threads about a decade ago regarding the issues with the 360 (mainly red ring of death and scratched discs). You get the honest ones here and there, but even many those are still almost in denial (like "the system must've come like that out of the box", etc.). Then you have the die-hard fans who just don't want to hear it. And then you get a shit ton of dispossable-consumerism comments like money grows on trees or something.
Right now, man, the way I see it is not "IF" but "WHEN" will this happen to my system if I were to buy it now. I don't put it past Nintendo from producing a completely new redesign. I'm actually hopeful for a dumbed-down version a la 2DS mentality, only here they would be concentrating on the home console format and doing away with the screen. If the two can coexist like the 2DS/3DS. Who knows? 'Just throwing it out there.
Also, going back to the first reviews of the system from big youtubers who got it early-on, I don't know if you remember or watched them, but a couple of them were already commenting on how hot the system can get.
I'm hoping it's a small scale issue that is limited to a certain batch personally.
But at the same time, there's already some evidence showing they were rushing to get this out to market ASAP, so it may not have had enough real world testing to catch something like this... or they changed something in the final design at the last minute that lead to this issue.
Given that this issue arose within one month, I suppose from here till the holidays will be more than enough time to make light of any resolution on the part of Nintendo or we'll see if more of these melted units continue popping up.
