I find it interesting to learn what drives people not only into gaming, but in their choices of games and consoles. And, again, not bashing you at all for not having the same receptiveness to that "special" allure of the Wii U. At the end of the day, you're not saying things like "I don't care for the good games on the Wii U". You're more like saying the same exact thing I used to say about the Gamecube back in the day in the vein of "perhaps I can just wait it out. Not that many exclusives as it is, and those that exist, are already getting re-released in later Nintendo systems".
But, btw, I played the entire BotW on the Wii U, which puts me on that minority list, and I can safely say that it was most definitely not an "afterthought". It was the intended version from the start. It looks gorgeous and plays flawlessly. In fact, having finished it makes me think it is the definitive version of the two. But I won't sign-off on that just yet until I play the Switch version on my own. I only say this based on the use of the Wii U gamepad utilizing all the gizmos the game takes advantage of without loosing track of the screen. Also, the number of glitches and framerate issues and tearing related by youtubers and forum users regarding the Switch version have far exceeded those of the Wii U.
Anyways, the reason I point out your Wii U BotW comment is that, funnily enough, I have used it as my anchor to draw out my choice in getting vs. not getting a Switch. I find the game was excellent on the Wii U (still got it for the Switch also, though ;)), so I just don't see the need to get a Switch just for that. And until I see this amazing Switch exclusive that is not in any other system (again, must be "amazing"), including the Wii U or any of the previous Nintendo consoles, I just can't justify myself getting a Switch just yet. But I do have high hopes for it, though. One thing I love about it, just like I did the Wii U (and the Wii before that) is that, compared to it's generational counterparts, it doesn't emphasize patches or DLCs as much. Hopefully this remains true for the Switch, albeit the BotW DLC (which we also got for the Wii U).
