Did you speed $700 on Dracula X PCEWORKs repro, off ebay because it had a DX energy drink and wooden box (but it's still a fucking repro!)? You might be a collectard. Did you spend $3000 on a sealed copy of Magical Chase, had it VGA appraised, and placed in sealed plastic container? You're definitely a fucking collectard. Do you feel your sense of self worth is attributed to having an impressive collection of games, and spend time envying other collectards because of their superior collection, and finally trying hard to obtain sealed or rare CIB games specifically to advance your status among the collectard community? You're a sad, sad man (and a collectard). If you collect for CIB games, but actually like to actively play said games - you're a gamer-collector. Notice the qualifier there ("gamer" in the hyphenated word comes first because it's more important).
Would we all like our games to be CIB, like when we bought them in our youth? Sure. Does putting them on your shelf make you a collectard? No. There are collectards, collectors, and gamers. There are shades of grey (more than 50) between the term collectard and gamer. But know this; collectards and collectors are seen as shallow, a person that's attempting to fill some void in their life through the accumulation of material worth (gaming memorabilia), a person whose only opportunity to be someone important, a sense of self worth, is through a small social circle in that specific collecting community and the ability to advance through those ranks via their collection (where money itself isn't the measure of worth), etc. Collectors are almost always given in a negative light. So don't expect any sort of sympathy from non-collectors. You might want to try the collector boards for that :p
Did you buy it solely for the purpose of maximizing resale profits? Do you do this on a regular basis? Does you house hold income depend on reselling? Do you resell more than you play games? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you are a reseller. There are resellers, and then there are asshole resellers. The assholes are the ones on ebay, with the infinite relisting of a game at an outrageous price - in which other people on ebay see this and assume that's the going rate; thus artificial inflation. Compounded by your impatient late 20's somethings and mid 30's something with disposable income.
Have we all resold something? Yes. Have we all ever taken advantage of a deal to turn a profit? Yes. The simple action of either, does not make you a "reseller". There are more qualifiers than that, to be associated with said term.
It's a good thing too, because the indication of the little "i" shows you no have sense of self-confidence in your identity ;)
tl;dr No need to be butthurt if you're not a collectard, or a reseller.
