JVC X'eye Audio Buzz and Re-cap

There is a buzzing/humming coming coming through my JVC X'eye's audio. It's not as bad through the RCA out, but still present. It's really bad when I route the audio through the standard Genesis AV output (not sure what it's called). I do not believe the hum/buzz has always been present on my X'eye.

I've been looking for a solution for a week or two when it was suggested to me that recapping could fix the issue. When looking into this more, I found an X'eye-specific cap kit: http://console5.com/store/jvc-xeye-cap-kit.html

Anyone ever recapped an X'eye? ...used the above cap kit? Is it hard? Are there any tutorials for the X'eye specifically?

I've only every soldered something like three times.

the console 5 kits are good. He uses name brand caps in his kits. 1 kit is enough to do 1 system.

Um, are you sure you want to first start soldering on a hard to find x eye?

why not make your first project a cheap Genesis 2 instead, to pick up some skill first?

Also, bad caps in the system usually cause the sound to be Muted, or scratchy sounding, not buzz.

A loud buzz sounds like another problem mabeye a bad IC.
it could also be that the capacitor in your Power brick is bad.

I once had a Genesis that i got with a power supply included, and it was buzzing through the audio.
I used my power supply instead and the buzzing went away completely.

I opened up the power supply that was causing it to buzz and the capacitor inside was leaking real bad.
I replaced it and the power supply works like new now. i didnt touch the caps in the system.

If that is your problem, you just want to replace the cap with the same one. Same Voltage and uf.
