Why hire 1000 Americans to work for $12 an hour, when you could hire 5000 people in India, the Philippines, China, or Mexico to do the work for $0.48 per hour. The lower taxes are only part of it. The lowering of business taxes is to allow US Businesses to actually be able to compete. We have some of the highest taxes in the world, and it's not helping anything. Renegotiating trade deals is the other side of the coin. By doing that and imposing Tariffs makes it so foreign goods cost more and can help make up for the difference with the US minimum wage, benefits, labor laws, etc.Quote:

There is something to the corporate taxes argument. We have the 3rd highest in the world. It may not be a fix all but it is something to think about.
Ya, lowering corporate taxes is fine. But putting tariffs on foreign goods is not gonna put more money in the pockets of average Americans, and is frankly, a breathtakingly stupid idea.
We deal with tariffs and various other fees and taxes when we sell our goods in other countries, why shouldn't there be equal tariffs for those countries selling their goods in our country? It's about leveling the playing field so companies in the US can compete at a fair level with foreign goods. Remember that as the wall would have to be built on US soil, and would be a US Government Public Works project, only US citizens would be permitted to work, and thus, fair wages would be mandated for all workers. The wall would bring jobs of many types, and with its success, we might also be able to build a wall around southern California, to keep those bastards in one place.
