Not music, but sound hack: Power hits sounds fix for Genesis/Mega Drive Battletoads and Double Dragon:

Where the music hacks for download? :B
^Nice, can we have a video or audio example of that?
Here's a cover of Wicked Flame from Arcus Odyssey: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4NdLbfN9tA
Dune 2 - Command Post: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVFbj...ature=youtu.be
The original left two FM channels unused and didn't have sampled drums.
Great job again.

Ghouls 'n Ghosts - Level 1/The Hill of Torture: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhQ1bfHqU7E
Both tracker files have some slight mixing improvements.

I'm in the process of translating "The Lion King" in French. One of my goal is to replace sound samples from the movie with their french counterparts. By using Audacity, and opening the ROM as a RAW file, 8-bit signed Mono, I managed to locate them (near the end of the rom).
With that info in mind, I tried to look in the ROM with an HEX editor to look for any clue about their real adress. So far, nothing poped-up. The driver used is "Krisalis/Shaun Hollingworth", and even by looking in the Z80 dumps, I did not manage to find some kind of sample table.
Do anybody here could shed some light about this driver sample format? My goal is to switch samples with something else.
That was really great. Please do some more SSF2 tunes :love:Quote:
Wow, that does sound very awesome...
Someone else will have to answer you properly but my guess is that at least some samples need to be cut to save space. Only other possible issue is that it's tracked in a custom Hz setting (56 Hz) to quickly get the tempo right, but this can be corrected by tracking at a higher speed in Deflemask.
I don't know anything (yet) about music in MD games, but if there's a driver for your tracks that uses exclusively Z80, I suppose it's possible to switch the SSF2 original sound driver by it, and have your track played. The nasty thing with SSF2 is that it uses a mapper, and it may make the thing difficult, but it should remain possible...
Drivers are not compatible with each other, you can't just swap them like that. (and regarding SSF2, all it really needs to do is ensure the page with the sound data is always visible, which is not hard given how the cartridge address space is 4MB for starters)
The samples are pretty much the same sound as played on the real console. What is important to me are the dialogues (cutscenes), and there's only limited naimation on screen while the samples play. The driver handles it very well in this circumstances.
Anybody could shed some light on where I could find some kind of samples tables (Adress/size) ? The Z80 dump was not conclusive in this case
Here's a new pair of covers for y'all,
Aladdin - Turban Jazz: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qGNnKjoyQk
Shadowrun - Title: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U66qbzAhsHg
Much better!!!
Shadowrun and Jurassic Park (composed by the same guy) have some good music but the instrument choices are HORRIBLE! JP Rampage Edition fix it
Thanks, which do you think is the best track from RE? Only JP series tracks I remember liking are Mobile Lab from Lost World, Visitor's Center from JP, and Cargo Ship from RE (which acually has pretty good instrumentation). I don't really care for those games though.
Latest cover (Mega Man 2 - Wily 1): https://soundcloud.com/alex-l-182148...ttack-style-v2
Based on the NES version (tracked by Curriculum Crasher), the Wily Wars one is a bit more fleshed out.
Yeah there are some SNES tracks I'd like to do later and Morgue from SR is one of them. Should work pretty well I think.
A couple of others on my list:
Pocky & Rocky
Soul Blazer
Front Mission: GH
Edit: LegendofRenegade has done a couple of CT tracks, though I don't think they're 100% accurate. For example the PSG noise has echo and some stereo panning and it sounds like there's an extra channel used to beef up the bass.

;)
Edit 2: So does no one here know how to insert new music into any of these games we've covered tracks from? I figured someone would've come forward by now!
Updated patch:
+ PAL version patch (music speed adjusted for PAL console).
+ working save-load-exit menu for Mega Everdrive.
+ compatible with 'L7' hack.

Hey, nice work on the Rock n' Roll Racing music hack! Paranoid sounds much better with the modified guitar patch. There's still the sub-par FM percussions, but it's a welcome improvement all the same.
ConradOj taught me how to hack FM values for my Prince of Persia 2 hack and how to find the values in the rom (is really easy)
I did this quick test with Pyron's Double Dragon hack and make the annoyng Channel 4 from the intro less noisy. Check it out:
The channel 4 TL (Total Level) values is on the offset 1AD70 and changed 0C 07 14 7F to 14 14 14 14 just to test. Sounds a bit better. :)

That's kinda cool. The bagpipe-like lead in golden axe actually sounds good with some detuned echo though, used pretty much the exact same instrument for my GA2-style cover a while back.
This is a really very very good rendition! Any way to replace the white noise at 0:23 for PCM sound wind?
I wonder if Story of Thor can receive some love with improved samples... the only thing that bothers me.... (but hey, not too much)
Glad you both enjoyed it!
The noise was inspired by the sound you hear when getting a spaceship piece in ToeJam & Earl. It is meant to replace the reverse cymbal in the original CT track. I like it for nostalgic reasons, so it can be a matter of acquired taste.
I made a new one

Not a pure cover, it's a bit rearranged, but it is absolutely wonderful.
So thrilled you enjoyed it! And yeah, I try to rewrite the originals a bit so the experience feels more fresh.
I like the instruments used, very nice and clean, however I feel that the portamento is used way too much.
Finished a new one after muuuuch reluctance.
