Not really feeling it. Maybe just the preview, but not really sensing the chemistry with that team there at all. Most of it seemed awkward and/or forced. Even some of the effects looked worse in a lot of ways.
The librarian ghost puking in the start looked like it was just a puppet on a string, very artificial. Not really expecting much good from this sadly. Hopefully another preview will come out and make it look more promising.

Looks totally different to how I expected, I'm quite interested now. Also, the ghosts look to me as though they are deliberately a bit fake so as to be stylistically comparable to the original puppetry. Or, it could just be bad CGI, we'll have to wait and see.

They did that stupid trailer cliche where they cut the music to fit a joke in, like 3 times.
Even if I had never seen the original films, nothing in this trailer was funny to me. This is lower than (current) Adam-Sandler-tier comedy.

There's a lot of casual misogyny going on here; It is a totally invalid 'criticism' to say that the film won't work with a female cast. You can say all you want about the editing, special effects, how funny / good it looks etc but the sexism is out of order. Eve if meant as somehow sarcastic, it's still a bit backwards no?
It's more of a hatred towards the current trend of turning everything into a feminist vehicle than anything else. Me, I just hate it for the current cast as comediennes being nowhere near as funny and charming as the old cast was, while still trying to play on my (and everyone else's) nostalgia. Murray, Ayrkroyd, Ramis, Moranis? They were comedic gold. Ernie Hudson? He was a nice straight man to balance out the other guys' wackiness, not to mention being Ernie Hudson. William Atherton? How does making a cast of mainly women in a film have to be viewed as adding to some kind of 'femenist vehicle' trend? There is no reason whatsoever that the Ghostbusters can't be either sex, it's really a non issue in this case.
If you think they might not be funny enough or whatever then that is a fair point to level against any gender, but as was said earlier in the thread about needing to be guys to laugh about fart jokes and such - that's not really on. Women laugh about that stuff too, and there is no reason whatsoever not to make the Ghostbusters be portrayed by women.
Again, just emphasise, I am in no way trying to make some kind of 'flame war' (I hate that term!), I'm just voicing my opinion as I feel I should; there's too much sexism and even in a casual setting such as a videogames forum it needs addressing.
There, finished ranting! Back on topic, I really like how they have gone for this approach; I would have hated it if they tried to go too 'serious sequel.' At least this is quite throwaway looking, so if it's crap we can forget about it entirely or if it is somehow good (which is a long shot by the looks of things) we can enjoy it for what it is.
I like Kristen Wiig and find her funny so this may be quite entertaining, and I also like the look of the SFX: They look quite like the old puppets to me and they seem to marry up quite nicely. To my eyes at least. Although it's probably doomed to be horrible, I'm glad we can at least have something that is different enough from the original movie to allow a different experience to it. I think it's preferable over attempting some kind of direct continuity.

I actually don't mind if they're PC or not. I thought the XGB cast was decent, and to an extent, likable. This new Ghostbuster reboot cast on the other hand, with it's full female cast (which I have no problems with them, being female I might add) makes me want to bust their teeth out.
All I think when I see that trailer is the type of forced, shit humour you get nowadays in chick sitcoms like Two Broke Girls. Seriously, fuck that shit.
This is clearly a case of tokenist casting in order to dismiss any and all criticism as misogyny. They will remove any detailed criticism that outlines precisely how this is geared up to be a bad movie, and leave only the sockpuppet posts filled with the most disjointed and nonsensical vitriol, which will then be posted on social networking to convince others. I wouldn't be surprised if this goes straight to VHS. Yes, VHS.
