ASSAULT SUIT LEYNOS Remake (PS4) ( "TARGET EARTH" GENESIS U.S. )

just recently got myself a physical JPN market edition (ALL REGION DISC, WILL WORK IN ANY PS4) of the late-2015 PS4 remake
of the MD MECHA shooter cult classic "ASSAULT SUIT LEYNOS" ("TARGET EARTH" for U.S. market)

i grew up on this game, -via TARGET EARTH- and it remains to this in my top two personal favorite MD/GENESIS titles.
this Remake is... FANTASTIC. it isn't QUITE perfect, but what is?
this is pretty much EXACTLY what i would have asked for in an "HD Remaster/Remake"

sure, the anti-aliasing could have been better and all, but dammit, this game is, from start to finish,
a labor of adoration from a obvious group of hardcore ASL fans,
a love letter aimed for the hearts of every fan of the original game the world over.

Highly Recommended...

I love the series and own all of the games as well. I'd pick up the physical copy for PS4 (also coming out in English amazingly) if I had one but I have no drive to ever own a PS4. I was hoping beyond hope that a PC version would come out and it is so I'm incredibly stoked.

FYI, there is also three galleries worth of promo material, original sketch art, VA scripts, and scans of the entirety of the original JPM MD game manual.

best of all is a full line drawing of the LEYNOS Assault Suit as depicted in the GANYMEDE BASE scene at the tail end of the MD original's intro sequence.

this fully finished earlier design concept differs significantly from the final design depicted in the original MD box art,
and reflected all throughout this remake. this earlier design, reflected in the MD original's in game sprite, is actually rather cool looking IMO,
and is a natural evolution of the several earlier design sketches shown in the first few pages of production materials.

all of these initial ASSAULT SUIT design concepts, in fact, display an obvious, strong design influence from the 1987 one-off Anime OVA "MADOX-01; METAL SKIN PANIC"

most other elements of the games' design ethos tends to reflect the 1983 T.V. Anime "ARMORED TROOPER VOTOMS" with a little of 1982's "SUPERDIMENSIONAL FORTRESS MACROSS"
and smatterings of various late-80's Anime trends in general...

It's always seemed strange to me that Gunhound EX on PSP didn't get more recognition.
I think that is the best game in the Assault Suits series.

Actually, i don't believe GUNHOUND is related to the ASSAULT SUITS series at all...

I just hope they don't screw it up, like the bulk of the 16 bit ports that have been done already.
