Ugh, my entry got butchered(by me). I wrote this one in a notepad and copied/pasted it into a PM, then went through and cut a few paragraphs out(I originally wrote a lot about Warren Moon, Ray Childress, and a HUGE paragraph about that Oilers/Chiefs playoff game I went way overboard :lol:). If there are any football nerds that happen to be interested this a small bit of what got cut:

Also Drew Bledsoe or his likeness is not in the game, and I also caught that Lamar Lathan and Wilbur Marshall were not on the Oilers' roster. Both guys were key components in the Oilers defense in the 93 season. That was the year that Buddy Ryan came over as the defensive coordinator for the Oilers, bringing over the 46 defense that he used to take the 1985 Chicago Bears to glory with one of the best defenses ever. Wilbur Marshall was on that 85 Bears team playing for Buddy Ryan(Marshall also played for the 91 Redskins championship team), so Marshall and Ryan reunited with the Oilers during that 93 season.
The Oilers had their best season in franchise history that year, it was a drama filled season that made for a great documentary in the "A Football Life: Houston '93" show that aired on the NFL Network a few years back. They stumbled out of the gate to a 1-4 start after Warren Moon struggled. Moon was benched after the Oilers week 6 loss to the Bills. The backup quarterback was injured in the next game and Moon came back in to lead the Oilers to 11 strait wins. They had one of the best offenses and defenses in the league that year, tied with the Cowboys and Bills with the best record in the NFL at 12-4. It all came apart in the playoffs when Warren Moon fumbled 5 times, Joe Montana led the Chiefs to a 4th quarter comeback victory and the rest is history. So in playing this season of Tecmo Super Bowl, playing through that 1993 season, I feel like Sam Beckett from Quantum Leap, trying to fix things that went wrong, bring the Lombardi Trophy to Houston and save the Oilers.
I enjoyed the Sonic 2 write up; I'm always so surprised to hear today, fairly consistently, that it's not liked as universally as I seem to recollect from back in its hey - day. I loved it and always saw it as top tier.
The part that always stumped me was green hills act 3, I used to land on those spikes a lot. Scrambled egg zone took some mastering too, but I loved it.
I also like how Melf campaigns tirelessly to keep us indoors too, keep fighting the good fight! There's always the Nomad for those situations where we have to leave I suppose...
Green Hills Zone act 3 is one of those stages that separate the men from the boys!
