I'm not confusing anything. When he picks up the chainsaw, he smiles like that for all of 1.5 seconds before snapping back into carefully looking left and right. Granted, he's avenging his rabbit, but the new Doomguy seems much more sadistic than the old one and that partly ruins it for me.Quote:

He's "carefully looking left or right" so that he can bust some alien @$$ when the moment arises. Maybe the new Doomguy is more sadistic, I don't know, but classic Doomguy is always ready for action, and he seems to always enjoy what he is doing. I get that his face suggests cautiousness to some extent, but it's not fearfulness or reluctance, it's vigilance. He is a man who dutifully embraces his purpose in his world, and his looking left to right suggests alertness, like a good soldier who's ready for any danger that may come his way.

I kind of got that feeling too. Like this is what Duke Nukem Forever SHOULD of been. But in a good way! It really is a lot of fun and even the "buying" of upgrades are nice and short. Just get that shit over with and move on.Quote:

Through the first couple of levels I've played so far, the game looks very nice. Although I hope it doesn't get darker in later levels (and I don't mean metaphorically, I mean literally. All the action buttons are so self-intuitive, you can start this baby up after your usual CoD or Halo and feel like you've always played it. The only pet peeve I have so far is with the map. You select it with the "grid button" on the PS4 gamepad, and it takes you away from the gameplay itself; and not in a good way. The map is 3D and hard to discern from the real world. They made it so that you can switch between 3D and 2D maps, but that doesn't help. TBH, I found myself using the map very little. Other than that, I've had a lot of fun with it so far. Love the "glory kills". In two levels alone, I think I've used about four different weapons already and a hand-to-hand combat style "berserk" mode.
Does it feel like DOOM? Not really. More like a dark halo (this time metaphorically ;)). Is that necessarily a bad thing? NOPE! Am I loving it? You betcha!!!:D
I like the map, it's easy to follow and throws some "Metroid Prime" into the mix when you backtrack for secrets and collectibles.
Just grabbed this and after some dinner and wine gonna play this shit on my ps4 with my xim4 haha it makes ps4 gaming so much better.
I'm guessing you need a PC connected to use that for the keyboard and mouse to work on the PS4, correct? I have a similar converter, and was bummed out by that requirement.Quote:

Turns out I was wrong again. I have not loved a single player FPS this much in well over a decade.
Considering I never played (although watched) any Doom game prior, my expectation did not exist. Where I stand now is probably half way through the game. I've just returned to Mars from Hell. From what I have seen thus far, Mars has been done really nice and it doesn't seem to be the typical linear nonsense considering one can find many different tangents to explore while listening to what sounds like a heavy metal concert. The weapon and suit progression system is not complicated and maybe even a bit too easy. Someone above asked about frame rate and I haven't found any issues with the X1 yet even with a few of the more enemy intensive and explosions galore areas. The only issues I have found are some of the ruin challenges bugging after you have successfully completed them and some of those holograms (telling you about the story) not saying a thing.
I only had time to play the first map but damn it was pretty cool. Does anyone get any lag or stutter when looking left or right quickly on ps4? I do and I think its due to my xim4.
The Cyber Demon in Hell is fucking me up due to the swipe projectiles and that weird laser catching my floaty ass in mid air.
On the bright side, I got to see my headless corpse animation for the first time.
Best game of 2016, so far.
I mostly like DooM 2016... except too much arenas and teleport enemies, instead of enemies just walking on the map, (or just waiting) and the plasma weapon. But I love to find secrets, so far, I am enjoying it :)
I really loved that fight. So many FPS bosses are either bullet sponges that are defeated by circle strafing or have some invincibility/puzzle gimmick. The Cyberdemon was pretty great though since he forces you to jump and dodge and play an active role on the fight.Quote:
