Finally got an EVERDRIVE !!! What hacks/homebrews/translations/unknown games to play?

As the title says, didn't think I'd get one but couldn't resist at 50 euros inc. SD card. Super happy with it!!! But also watchful for the 'emulation boredom' - scrolling through an unlimited list of games isn't nearly as fun as picking a game out of my collection. So let's put this thing to good use first... what hacks, homebrews, translations of obscure japanese games or other stuff that I couldn't otherwise play on my beloved Mega Drive should I give a try? There's probably loads of them (going to try that QBert game and Sonic Megamix for sure) but I'll start with your suggestions, if you please ;)

Btw I've got a 60Hz switch.

(Shamless self-promotion) I've put out a few games. I'm not sure if you'll like any of them, but you can find the ROM downloads from that link in my signature. You'll want to use that 60HZ switch, as I'm pretty bad about PAL optimization.

There are more than enough sonic hacks to keep you busy.
Pana Der Hejhog is one of my favorites, even if it's really short.

I also like to play some of those weird Chinese unlicensed knock-off games on my everdrive. I can't think of any specific ones, but maybe you can find an unlicensed ROM collection online.

Thanks for the suggestions, and please DO self promote! Not everyone can play your games on a real system so I'm happy to give them a go. Bare Knuckle III translated will certainly be played, finished SOR 1 & 2 with a mate already so it'll be good to finish the trilogy the good way :)

congrats, man! some greats already posted, there's a ton of SOR & sonic hacks, as well as color hacks on this very forum. i grab everything i come across...there's prolly way more at romhacking/etc but ive found complete collection torrents/etc of betas, prototypes, hacks etc and always have fun exploring them. for instance, looking forward to finally playing through Landstalker down the road with improved controls! oh, and be sure to play the earliest versions of Revenge of Shinobi & Moonwalker (Thriller dance!)

I just got a mega everdrive recently as well and I have been super happy with it. Don't forget you can also play sega master system games using the everdrive. The only issue I have run into is I can't get Mega Man Wily Wars to save no matter what rom I try. I tried the original, sram patched, Japanese rom, etc.

Other than that it's been one of my best purchases in a long time.

I really enjoy the yearly release of the NHL series with updated rosters with the NHL94 rom, still super fun to this day and modern at the same time!! you have to patch the rom, you can find it at nhl94.com. NHL16 on the genesis FTW!! I found out btw that the sms games wont work on a xeye...

Does vanilla Everdrive support the SSF2 mapper? Because if so, I suppose Sonic VR should run on it, right? (that hack was using the mapper to get 5MB I think?) Actually I think it works either way but you get no music without proper support.

I recommend dynamite headdy translation! That way you can play the original and read the dialogues, which were removed from the overseas versions(which also had other changes, like boss sprites and difficulty tweaks). You can also play download-games from sega toshoukan, like penguin land, the phantasy star 2 text adventures (with translations). A fun download game to try with a friend could be Paddle fighter.

Prototypes! Nothing like playing an early version of a game on real hardware. Notable ones from the top of my head would be Jim Power (unfinished), World of Illusion and Home Alone.

If you like Falcom games, you might look into the partial translation of Sorcerian. Only the menus are translated, but it's enough to get you through the game (it's an action-RPG too).

I know I could never get it to work on a Mega ED. It'll launch, but it always crashes when a level loads.
