I would like to play Sonic Lost World, but it has a lovely camera system that makes me feel like throwing up so i've never played past Level 1.
Shame, it's literally the only game that makes me motion sick.

How do you mean?
It has a fisheye camera, and focusing on objects is tough and headache inducing, it just never sits still and moves around a ton.
It seems Sega have never tackled the issue of cameras in a 3D Sonic. I imagine Xtreme would of just been painful to play through.
I guess I'd have to play and see. Don't recall this issue with any 3D Sonic game before, though.
I've found every previous Sonic game generally has a camera that can lose track of it's objects (Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 definitely), Sonic 06 has an awful camera too but who cares it's Sonic 06. This is an entirely different beast due to the layouts of the levels.
How do "modern" gamers rate the Sonic games from a "modern" context?

Watched it yesterday and hated it, While I'd rank Sonic 1 last too, its still a damn good game, you learn to adapt there being no spin dash.
"Sonic 2 was the first game to introduce sonic's cool guy attitude"
No it wasn't pretty sure he had it from the start. Alos they made it more vertical because tails was in it? Tails can't even fly when you control him, so that makes no sense.
Also imo ranking games in a "modern context" is dumb, especially if not having a save system is why you're ranking say Sonic 2 lower.
They had level selects to make up sorta for it and any post-sega genesis release Sonic 1, 2 has had, you can save on compilations and such, and if you're playing these games in a "modern context" (I really hate this term and how much he uses it) then you most likely are not playing them on an actual sega genesis which means you have the ability to save it wherever you are playing it.
If Sonic 1 was released today as some independent project, it would be a goddamn masterpiece, so I'd say that it still holds up against modern platformers. Video is invalid for breaking up S3&K, and whining about no saving in Sonic 1.
I don't get it. It's rating Sonic 1, 2, 3, Knuckles and Mania? With 1 coming in last? I'd say it's like choosing your favorite game amidst your five favorite games. Nothing to it.
And he excluded Sonic CD.
Still can't understand why as title is "best 2d sonic game".
I wouldn't care if he would have said the reason.
Makes no sense to me and makes me think about it
Well, bring on the mob lynching. I bought the game.
The bad news: I ordered the "Collector's Edition" through Amazon; but the item came completely crushed in one corner. I wasn't going to mind if it was just the outer box. But the inner box is even worse. Now I sent for a "replacement". Can't use the code till then. I think I'll get back to Gears of War, or Sonic 2, or whatever. :?
$70 for an off-scale Genesis with a Sonic statue adhered to it, and an oversized Genesis cart with a ring inside. Well, I guess that's a better deal than $20 for something that does not physically exist.
It's a good game. I kinda regret not getting the special edition when it was only $55 or so via Prime discount, but while I like the look of the Sonic statue and the Genesis model, I don't like them in that combination. Plus dwindling space for huge knickknacks like that.
Criticisms aside, it's still a very good game. I only refunded mine due to Denuvo, and I do miss being able to play it. I'll buy it on console once I pick one up or PC again if Sega removes the DRM.
Can't wait to play it.
