If he knew what he was on about, Sonic 1 has been available on phones forever... with saving.
Shit, just play it on a damn emulator and use save states. It's 2017.
Favorite way to play Sonic 1 is on the 3DS Sega 3D collection. Quite possibly the best version of the game. Spin Dash and all.
Sonic 1 with spindash sounds like a bad hack.

Sonic Jam on Saturn allowed you to use the Spin Dash in Sonic 1, and that was long before any hacks.

I very rarely buy anything at launch. And even more rarely do I play at launch what I buy. I'm in zero hurry to play any game. I thought I got that point perfectly across aeons ago.

Wasn't saying about playing games at launch, just the original releases. Like when I asked around here if I should play PSII original US release or with the more accurate translation by fans patch. You replied to play the game as originally released. Recall another example by you, but... can't recall it.
And only for online games or with online features like Dark Souls are best played from day one.
Still confused. The game was originally released for the PS4 among others. That's the version I got.
I think I'm done with Sonic Mania. Did some reflex and response testing on a few game systems today, and it seems that because of the concussions and eye injuries I've experienced, I can barely play games anymore.

Noticed it when I started screwing up constantly in Yakuza 0, Metroid Prime, Mega Man 9, Blaster Master Zero, and today in Tekken 4 and Sonic Mania. Short term memory is almost gone, too. I was asked to recall a short list of words at work as a test, and immediately forgot all of them. Ah well, time to disappear for a long time.
