IDK the graphics look akin to a better version of Chaotix. I do hope this comes to the Nvidia Shield TV and not Geforce now only. But yes it is good to see a Sonic game that actually looks like a Sonic game. I have Sonic CD on Android and I like the way they did it even if I don't really like Sonic CD.
This is awesome. My only gripes:
- I can't get a 360 port for a downloadable 2D game? Really?
- I can do without revamped classic levels. There's no point; we've already had Sonic Generations, just give us a game with all-new content. I don't need the thousandth version of Green Hill, especially when the first part of it is the exact same layout as the original GHZ Act 1, which I've already played to death (who hasn't?).
- No insta-shield or peel-out as far as I can tell. This is relatively minor, but why not just have all his classic abilities available in this game?
That's pretty much it. Otherwise, it's amazing that this is even happening. Too bad they already wasted the "Sonic 4" title when it would embody exactly what this game is trying to achieve.
Can't really blame them for not wanting to expend the extra time and money given that the 360 is getting pretty far out to pasture.Quote:

This actually looks promising.
It looks like the Saturn game they should've made.
And I mean even from a technical standpoint, it does things the Saturn could do, and looks like how the Saturn would do them. The entire title screen looks like it was optimized for the Saturn background chip, it looks awesome. That part where the foreground overlaps the sprites and shows only their shadow, that's about the only iffy part in that regard.
This is something the Saturn could do easily (widescreen aside), why not Saturn? In all seriousness though, the 360 isn't even manufactured anymore and I imagine Microsoft isn't even giving out licenses for it anymore, it'd be stupid to bother.Quote:

heh, it wouldn't surprise me if Sega redesigned Sonic for DreamCast just so they'd have to render less polygons.
This is the first time I've been excited at the thought of a Sonic game since I was a kid. I hope whoever is making this knows a thing or two about level design, ie, not a bunch of speed boosts/hold right and jump once in a while. I like being able to choose if I want to speed through a level or explore. The colors in that Studiopolis Zone look like something out of Chaotix.
Does anyone know if GHZ and other old levels are actually going to be a part of the game, or is it just some POC for the beta/trailer?
I'm actually excited for this. I want to buy it, play it, possibly enshrine it.
...But I probably won't. Because to play this awesome 90's-style game, I'll still have to go through 2016 technology. Which means one of two things.
1) Buy the PC version, which will probably not be on physical media and may require the use of "Steam", which I am familiar with only as something that comes out of a teapot.
2) Buy a modern console which I have absolutely no interest in, can't really afford, and probably can't even hook up to my ancient TV.
Still...really good news. :D
Re-imagined, as the trailer states. You can find gameplay videos of both stages shown in the trailer, and there turns out to be a whole new upper area in GHZ, hence the Emerald Hill Zone twisting road segment shown in the trailer.Quote:

I had a graphics card some time back that had a breakout box with S-Video, if the game scales well to low-end hardware and also supports 640x480 you'll be fine.

I'm glad they're paying attention to the soundtrack too. Dare I say it, the Sonic cycle will be broken with this game.

IGN have proven they hate Sonic.
I don't think IGN itself has, just the millenials on it's spinoff channel. I think this is their way to attempt to get more views, by bashing a popular series, then attacking it's fandom. The more you spread this, thankfully in this case not linking directly to the video itself, the more attention it gets.
However, the fact that the video itself has way the hell more dislikes(so far 2,058) than likes(so far 76), and is almost nothing but negative comments in favor of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, on the internet, shows how strong the Sonic IP is. (If 5 cartoons, and a comic book series that's been going strong since the '90's[you know, the point in time in which if Marvel didn't sell their movie rights to Sony and Fox, they'd have been bankrupt, because that's how poor the industry was doing at the time], didn't already prove it).
It's really time to look at the internet for the inconsequential thing that it really is. There's no rising sentiment about Sonic 1 being a bad game, it's just being more vocalized by the same few geeks, who can't understand the concept of wanting to return to a game to master it's mechanics. Even at that, there are interviews where Shigeru Miyamoto himself has said that, despite finding it rough around the edges, he still finds Sonic 1 to be a good game. If that's a guy these kinds of people can't take at face value, who are anyone to begin to suggest that his games are the best in return?
This faux return to the 16-bit console wars needs to end(or, at least we need to stop paying attention to it, just because a minority of nerds want to keep it going). It had it's day, and the only one that matters now, is whatever happens between Nintendo, Sony, & Microsoft. Even if, like myself, you stopped(or kind of, but still mostly stopped) caring about games beyond that era.
The only thing that matters here is that Sega seems to be on the right track in general, but especially with their key franchise. Especially considering they seem to be up financially, this fiscal year:
