On my Xbox One it installed automatically after I selected DLC from the game then buying/downloading it. Does the Plus DLC show up on your storage? I have limited experience with the PS4 so I wish I had more tips.
Playing the Encore stages in Time Attack is great! And Ray and Mighty are a blast to play too!
Hit 'jump' twice, hold it the second time, and slowly rock back and forth between 'left' and 'right' on the D-pad (pressing it forward makes him dive and accelerate; pressing it back makes him rise and decelerate). Usually I start by diving, but it also doesn't hurt to have a running start. It took me a few minutes to figure it out, but he has by far the funnest flight ability in the game. If you start gliding in the right area, he can pretty much keep going indefinitely.
Thanks guys. I will try again.
I’m glad I waited on the physical copy to be released. It just never made sense to pay for the Big Boxed SE Edition at retail, only to end up with a code to download the game. It should of had a disc inside the box.
Beta patch removes Denuvo!

Finally, game ran like crap in places for me (Time Attack, noticable slowdown with bosses, etc). To give you a clue to how much they garbage was in there: the exe has dropped from over 100mb to just 3.
I came here right after I saw this to see if it was posted yet. 3 fucking megabytes. Ridiculous.
I'm hoping they fixed the issue where the videos play slower on low-grade hardware, but I doubt it. I don't really feel like dicking around with beta stuff, so I'll just wait for the stable release.
To anyone without current-gen consoles who's been holding out on Sonic Mania because of the DRM, you've finally got your chance.
Sonic Mania can be played on an 10 year old laptop and be fully playable. I'm playing the game on a gaming rig that would make a stock PS4 blush. The point is, the game's specs are low. That is not the problem: it's the 1.05 patch which caused a slight performance hit due to pisspoor implementation. Sega wanted to protect 'Plus' so bad, they jacked up the Denuvo and kicked it out the door with little to no quality checks.

+ Beta patches on Steam are just for people who want to try out the patch early. From what I've heard, it's already made it's way out of "beta" anyway and everyone will have it now.
EDIT: Scratch that, still no out yet. Just did a quick test of the new patch, and everything seems much better. Loads faster, no slight hiccups on boss transitions triggering, etc. Even the Time Attack bug seems fixed.
A comparison between Patch 1.04 and the Beta's exes:

Well can't blame them for trying to protect their IP. Just take a look at GOG they hand out DRM free (yes I like that too) games and now they're having financial trouble with layoffs that could be a result of patrons sharing the games bought by some. I know that's a stretch ha-ha.
I don't do beta anything so if and when I'll wait until official patch is released.
I played the game up to that point where you have to play that Tetris-like game with Robotnik and I so don't want to play that part that I'm thinking of ditching the whole game.
Even after all this time, Mania is a great damn game. It's not perfect but it's a hell of a lot better then anything in recent years.
I liked Sonic Mania but the levels were far far too long at times IMO. At some point, they became frustrating at times and it just wore out it's welcome. I like the earlier stages more. I never finished it. It's enjoyable for a while.
