Hopefully it's okay to say that I'd prefer a physical copy.
Likewise brotha. I just feel the fans need to support Sega whenever fan service is in play. That's the only way Sega will take the financial decision to produce products that the fans want. If stuff like this doesnt sell, SOA will dump items like this like a whoreish girlfriend in favor of others venues. It's either items like this or more Football Manger, Sonic Boom, and Total War bullshit for years to come. Constructive criticism and consumer awareness is always a great thing. I just don't care for the name calling and demanding from a certain demographic of gamers.
We have no Shenmue HD, Yakuza Remake, PSO2 online in NA, and countless other games largely ignored by SOA and SOJ. And BTW, SOA will blame SOJ and vise versa, and in the process, the Sega fan gets screwed.
Think about it.
I kinda tempted to buy this on pure principle. I mean, I've never pre-ordered a game in my life before, but for a game that needed to come out after so long, I almost feel like it's worth it.
But I don't know what's the deal with the cartridge. Is it just a prop? Or is there some kind of bonus hidden on there that can be unlocked by sticking it into an actual SEGA Genesis? Or would the huge ring on the front keep you from doing that in the first place?
Shovel Knight is way under 200 MB and it got a universal release in hard copy across all consoles. ;)
I don't even know those IPs.
Hmm... I've noticed the coloring on the card in that package, and even in the trailer. You have the blue, orange, and red signifying the playable characters, but what do you suppose the light green signifies?
Also, 2017 hasn't got a name yet. It should be right there in the trailer: Sonic Resistance, or Sonic Rebellion, or something along those lines, if they aren't calling it Generations 2.
The long awaited return of Vector the Crocodile
The best part is that while you were all complaining Sega was struggling to keep up with the demand.
The same thing happened with shenmue 3. Sega announced a game that people have wanted for over a decade and the first thing people do is crab about their physical copy. Can't just be happy and play the friggin game. It's a sonic game. I don't think Sega will ever be forced to pull it from the servers.
Im not making fun of you. It's just a head scratcher why someone would purposefully avoid a game they might otherwise enjoy because they can't hold it.
Even if the game is under 200mb can Sega not include extra content on the disc to feel it all up? Lord knows there certainly isn't a lack of Sonic content available.
It's a choice, dude. Learn to live and let live. What the hell is the matter with you?
Did I say the game is going to suck? No.
Did I say nobody should buy the game bc it's not getting a physical release? No.
Did I say YOU shouldn't buy the game? No.
Did I insult, condescend or patronize anyone or you with my choice? No.
There are millions of people out there who share my stance. And it has nothing to do with video games getting physical releases and everything to do with MY PERSONAL sense of ownership.
You're so hard set into wanting to make others play a game you consider "enjoyable" that hasn't even come out yet, that you misplace your imbecile insults.
It is evidently YOU who "can't hold it" when others choose differently than yourself; YOU who "crab" under the pressure of others having their own choices and opinions.
I have stated countless of times I simply choose not to promote digital only games. It has nothing to do with "shelf candy", as you so eagerly moved to insult; and everything to do with MY PERSONAL sense of ownership. I don't care if the game is good. Who are you to patronize me with empty, condescending comments that I'm missing out on a game that hasn't even come out? Again, the game hasn't even come out yet. For every game you play I bet you anything I play (and Beat!) Ten more. So do yourself a favor and STFU. I can enjoy myself on my own terms without the need of your bickering and downright intolerance of others. :?
lol, nerve struck. Why so sensitive? You even had to point out that Lan Di wasn't referencing you when he mentioned the entitlement rant in a post that had absolutely nothing to do with you. It doesn't make any sense to not play a game (that I'm pretty sure intrigues you) because of "ownership". Are you mad that Sega is "forcing" you to never play it? Do you refuse to use netflix or watch cable or go to the movie theater because you don't "own" any of that? What is ownership?
.....Congrats?Quote:
For every game you play I bet you anything I play (and Beat!) Ten more.
Thank you. Your chronological sense is spot on.
P.S.> The comments start from the top down (unless you've changed your settings).
Dude. Snap out of it already. You're clearly the one whose "nerve" was "struck". You're so adamantly intolerant that you can't simply cope with others having a choice? Really?
Nobody is "mad" at anything. But you're clearly butthurt your favorite game that hasn't come out yet will not be played by me if it doesn't get a physical release. I know you really like me and all; but seriously, I didn't know you liked me THAT much.
And now they're making a physical copy for Shenmue III because people wanted it. Consumers should voice what they want when it's reasonable.
I don't buy collector's editions myself but it's perfectly reasonable in Sonic Mania's case to expect a physical copy. It's an expensive CE directed at classic gamers.
I guess I just need help understanding. My space and free time have limits, as I'm sure all of yours does too, and if I'm allowed to buy and play a game without having to bring yet another unnecessary thing into my house that I need to find a place for, great. That goes for anything, games, music, TV, movies, books.
^Sonic 2 commercial flashback.
Also, did that show a glimpse of a new stage?
day 1
way i see it, im buying a tacky sonic statue on a genesis and getting a download code for free
i too prefer physically owning things, but at the rate sega reprints sonic stuff, it'll be on a collection disc down the road, i figure
Looks like Best Buy is now accepting Pre-Orders also. 20% Off for Gamer's club members.
I'll just leave this here:

I haven't watched the video yet, so I don't know if it reveals any secrets for the stage or not.
The game seems to be really cool. The guy is a jerk though.
Direct video and Dust Hill feelings for everyone:

hnnghh, watched knuckles for a short bit but i don't want all the levels spoiled, going on media blackout with this one!
^ These days pushing sales is way, way more important then worrying about spoiling things for your valued customers. Who cares about their experiences & long term fandom/respect or if they even use the product, so long as they payed. Worry about suckering them again next time with clever adverts that spoil and ruin everything.
It's pretty cool to see a stage based off of Dust Hill Zone in the game.
