Nah, just a 3DS so far. I'm staying handheld(still say "fuck discs"). However, as a Sega fan, though it's a little older, I am looking forward to finally getting around to 7th Dragon III(had that since last Wednesday, but like I said, it wasn't the only one. 28 page art book Launch Edition too).
Hehehe! I can't blame you. I despise discs to this day. I own 7th Dragon III but it remains in the backlog until I finish the current game. If you are really into the 3DS, may i suggest "Azure Striker Gunvolt: Striker Pack": The pack was released a week or two ago and contains both Azure Striker Gunvolt 1 + 2. For the price, it's an excellent deal for those who enjoy platformers.
Ironic suggestion, as I had gotten that with the rest. Soon as you make the order for River City at Amazon, at least that was the first suggestion I got, and I was already aware of/interested. I just didn't realize the games were only digital otherwise(or that they were by the same dev team as Mighty No. 9, but thankfully there didn't seem to be any kind of over-hype to make these disappointing). The other games I picked up were about 3DS launch era, Shinobi and Super Street Fighter IV. Slightly before I got those, I've also gotten Hyrule Warriors Legends, which is also massively time consuming, and makes me rethink the enthusiasm I had when I discovered they were making a game like this out of Berserk...
The others all have good reason to go back to them once you've completed them though, so there's that.
I'm quite sure you'll enjoy 3DS Shinobi. I also went on a 3DS buying binge last month. Luigi's Mansion, Little Battler's Mansion (friggin great game!), Hyrule Warriors Legends, and Yokai Watch just to name a few.
I haven't forgot about the DS either. This year I managed to snag copies of Front Mission and Infinite Space (one of my must wants for the handheld). I was quite elated to get brand new copies of both these games for a decent price.
Well, I finally got around to 7th Dragon. I don't know how many hours into it I am, I think early-ish teens. I've resolved to not obtain another RPG...
...but I'll be damned if I didn't make a great choice for my only one! This game is, well, like I said, great. Then again, what else would one expect from a game produced by Rieko Kodama and scored by Yuzo Koshiro? Given the nature of it, I'm sure it'll have a tremendous replayability to it as well.
^I'm glad you're enjoying it. I got the same edition as yours, but I haven't cracked the seal yet. Too many other great ones on the 3DS backlog I haven't yet delved into (primarily the Fire Emblem games).
To add to the thread:
I'm really looking forward to the next batch of PS VR games. It's really difficult to post them here though, bc I will only be getting retail releases, and it's too early to tell which ones will get the physical copies vs download-only (trust me, I tried). Still stoked for more of PS VR, though. :D
I'm getting this Shadow of the Colossus meets The Last Guardian vibe. Very stoked.

Ok. Quick story on The Last Guardian. Didn't want to post it on the Haul thread.
I went ahead and preordered it before launch day (just a few days prior). First time I've ever preordered anything. I get my game in the mail shipped from Best Buy via FedEx. The top of the box is intact. The bottom half is drenched with water. Nope. It did not rain that day. I used one finger to rip to the soaked cardboard to reveal a shitty wet collector's copy. I went back and tried to exchange it but no Best Buy within 300 miles of my area had it. So I returned it.
I went straight to the video game section to get a regular copy. And ALL 20 of them were soaked wet. As in, you could see the wrinkles on the insert and the plastic wrap even had bubbles of water inside. This is day one folks. Wanna know something funnier? They were encased in a an antitheft jewel case. All 20 of them! It's almost as if my entire area received poorly treated wet copies of The Last Guardian.
I shared my concerns with customer service and went ahead to purchase two (2) more collector copies. One by mail, one for pickup. The one by mail came today via UPS. Same shitty cardboard packaging, different carrier. The outer box was intact. But the item inside was squashed beyond measure. I'm returning that shit tomorrow as I go pickup the 3rd one I ordered. I will be giving up on this preorder shit if this doesn't go right tomorrow.
Why not order it from Amazon?
More hastle to return. Don"t like to wait. Maybe I should be more patient, though.
Yakuza 0
Sonic Mania

Sonny, You're in luck!!

It's out already!
oh my god, i totally forgot this happened...been meaning to get an OG xbox for a while now. how did it go?
next you're gonna tell me there was a Crazy Taxi 3!
i really haven't followed that one much, but ive heard nothing but good...same with Ni-Oh i think it was
As in Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller?
In my case, I'd say Bloodstained and Project Y are two games that I'm really looking forward to.
Just got my copy of Haunted Halloween 86, and that game has been pretty amazing.
It's time to get the original Xbox Irish Ninja. The console is all kinds of awesome!
yeah, you're not wrong! i totally slept on it in the day - my roommate had one but used it as a halo/emulation box. i've been building up a small library for it & was looking forward to my current roommate's system (he has it modded, and we had the fan-translated Rent-A-Hero ready to go!) but sadly that just died. i know they're not pricey, just waiting for a local deal & post-holiday $, but yeah, i was sold the first time i finally saw Orta.
speaking of, holy shit the Orta xbox is cool looking.
^IrishNinja. For a a mod enthusiast as yourself, I highly recommend you visit Lee at Play It Again in Homestead. His retro gaming store is also a front for his OG Xbox mods. His specialty is basically the OG Xbox. You can get various packages from him. He will add entire libraries to the HDD for you.
I'm pretty sure you are, I mean what could they do with a third game? GO INTO SPACE?? http://www.clipartbest.com/cliparts/.../dirMkanyT.gif
ah, a few months back i was looking for one down in homestead and i believe i stumbled onto the very one you're referring to here - they have a bunch of classic system boxes on the right when you come in, yeah? i was ogling this model 2 master system, if it was.
dude seemed legit, i was asking about FM modding a master system, think he said i'd need the board. you're right though, i should ask him about xbox options! just strapped till after the holidays, but i bought a saturn stunner last time i was out that way.
you laugh but HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE?!
Damn. I've been really looking forward to "Prey for the Gods" and " Scalebound". And in the past two days I've learned really disappointing news:
1. Prey for the Gods is NOT getting a physical release. Not only that, it is merely a 3 person development team working under a Kickstarter campaign. Whaaaaat? Oh well, at least it looks amazing still. Here's to hoping they go all the way. So far they are promising 5 bosses (good enough for me). As long as it's a solid single player campaign, I can only hope they end up with a solid final product and, hopefully, someone somewhere releases a physical copy some day. I know I was stoked about this one much more than with The Last Guardian; and that's saying a lot.
2. Scalebound is cancelled!!!
http://www.windowscentral.com/xbox-e...-been-canceled
What a disappointment. I don't think there has been a bigger scale (no pun intended) production I've ever witnessed getting cancelled after being shoved in the public eye for so long and with such fervor of exclusivity. Not even Shenmue on the Saturn got this much press. Heck, I'm only comparing it to Shenmue on the Saturn as per rumors on framerate issues on the Xbox One; but even then, that game looked great still (way better than Shenmue on the Sega Saturn back then). Maybe going back to The Last Guardian, I suppose. But if that's the case, here's to hoping we may yet see Platinum Games continue their development in some other fashion. I'd shoot for Scalebound on the Scorpio, but the two companies look to have parted ways thus far... :?Quote:
After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for "Scalebound." We're working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including "Halo Wars 2," "Crackdown 3," "State of Decay 2," "Sea of Thieves" and other great experiences. For more information on our 2017 plans, please visit: https://news.xbox.com/2017/01/05/xbo...-year-in-2016/.
^ Although I don't have an Xbox One, Scalebound did look rather tempting. Nobody's saying why it was cancelled yet - could be just that Microsoft was tired of the delays and decided to cut their losses. Wouldn't be the first time. If so, there's a chance someone else will pick it up. But if there is something inherently wrong with it, it's another story. Hard to believe Platinum could completely screw up four years of development, but bigger studios have made worse mistakes.
Resident Evil 7
Nier Automata
The next souls-like game by From Software
For games coming out soon, my top three right now are...
Nier Automata
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Breath of the Wild
Everybody's Golf 7 (Hot Shots Golf in America, Minna No Golf in Japan).
And Tekken 7.
The Horizon: Zero Dawn launch date is fast approaching. I seriously hope Best Buy doesn't mess-up my Collector's Edition order like they did with all my three attempts at The Last Guardian.
Besides Horizon: Zero Dawn and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (which I will most-likely play on the Wii U), these have recently caught my eye:
GreedFall:
Styx: Shards of Darkness:
Raiders of the Broken Planet:
games I'm looking forward to, off the top of my head:
cuphead
kingdom hearts 1.5 + 2.5 HD remix
sonic mania
breath of the wild (I'll get the wii u version)
other games with no real release date that I'm looking forward to:
destiny 2
shenmue 3
kingdom hearts 3
resident evil 2 remake
Horizon: Zero Dawn = 3 more days! :)
Breath of the Wild = 1 more week! :D
Lol. I don't think I'll be able to beat Horizon: Zero Dawn by the time the new Zelda comes out. I'm thinking this trend will continue throughout the year. :) There are just so many upcoming games I'm looking forward to, the list keeps piling up (and the PS4 has most of them, not surprisingly).
Another game that I'm getting more and more stoked about as the launch approaches is Mass Effect: Andromeda
This article foes a good job detailing what to expect, gameplaywise.
http://m.windowscentral.com/things-y...fect-andromeda
Looking through list Upcoming games of 2017 I can say that i'm most excited about the new God of War game. Oh and Red Dead Redemption 2.
Out of that listing, I'd only be interested in Sonic Mania(maybe FlatOut4, never really sat down with one of those games), but then it seems to be strictly digital.
Otherwise, I think Ys VIII is happening this year, if you're a fan of that series.
Finally!!!!
New patch 1.10 for Horizon: Zero Dawn adds a feature that no other modern game has granted millions of its consumers:
X-Axis inversion!!!!
http://www.express.co.uk/entertainme...ames-PS4-patch
https://cdn.theatlantic.com/static/m...use_medium.gif
Other features are included, like the ability to buy multiple items at once, among others.
Here's to hoping more devs realize what the simplest of patches could do for millions of us. Perhaps one day, at least from the 8th gen onward, a new console firmware update will include this feature from the system's settings. To me, personally, that would be as awesome a firmware feature as the new external HDD support on the PS4. But Gerrilla Games' answer to its fans is definitely a step in the right direction. :D
Too bad I already beat it; albeit it with multiple glitches in trying to bypass the previous lack of x-axis inversion. :(
Bump!
Damn. Now version 1.11. One single day transpired, and they managed to already fixed a bug noted from the last patch. Now, that, is how you cater to the fans.
It was Breath of the Wild. I'm not the biggest Zelda fan, but I got caught up in the hype for this one.
Now that BotW is out? ...Nothing.
I guess maybe that God of War game.
