I really like the challenge and style of the first Rayman game, even if it felt a little generic at times, similar to Astal. Not a ton of feel to it. I tried playing Rayman 2, I could never get into it. A roommate of mine really enjoyed playing Rayman Legends. I've heard great things about both Origins and Legends.
I like Rayman 2 more than 3 because although both are 3D, the third is too linear. The cast, dialogue and humor is a nice touch, but I honestly don't like the format.
The first one was a lot of fun. Fun gameplay style that involved some problem solving with the platforming, I found it a bit more innovative than the myriad of contemporary platformers. When they went to the 3D style, I didn't find the game nearly as fun anymore. I haven't tried Legends, but I have Origins on PS3 and it is an absolute blast. They really knocked it out of the park with that one. Silky smooth controls, tons of puzzle solving, fun platforming and beautiful, colorful graphics. It's the best platformer I have played since the 90s.
Origins and legends are 2 of the best 2d platformers of all time, maybe even better than old mario and sonics. Rayman 2 on dreamcast was great too (and n64). I never liked the original rayman and dont really care about the other games
2 is great. The others are all bad.
origins and legends are definitely the best but rayman 2 is probably one of the few 3d platformers that are really great. a ton better than mario 64 or any other hyped nintendo platformer for sure. the first rayman I haven't played in 20 years but back then it was amazing to me. Maybe it'll pop it in some time soon
I prefer the original platformer. I also loved the art style and the graphics were top notch at the time.
The 3D games were good but they were just b-tier games compared to the best 3D platformers on N64.
I appreciate the more recent 2D games but i actually don't like the art direction that much, the backgrounds look good but also boring, static and kind of generic nowadays, there are not enough variations and the level designs are not that interesting. They look like a typical mobile game to me tbh. I also prefer the shading in the first game as opposed to the 100% cartoon look of the new ones.
The first one annoys the hell out of me. The second one I love. Haven't played much outside of that.
