If you were given the choice of a *free* PS3 or 360 - you only get to pick one - which would you choose and why?
Personally, I think I'd actually go with the PS3. The reason being that the Red Rings chill my blood and there are quite a few PS3 games that I'm really interested in, such as Killzone 2, RE5, Heavenly Sword, etc.

I'd definitely go with the PS3 since I already have a 360.
I would go with a PS3 also, because I already own a 360. Oh, and Genesis Knight, RE5 is going to be on 360 as well. I can't really say there are many PS3 games I want right now though.
I have neither system but if it were free I would have to go with the PS3. More bang for your buck, and since it'd be free thats a hell of a lot of bang. The failure rate on the 360 is disturbing even if they do fix it for free and once the PS3 has more time its gonna be a real good looking system. Maybe not the most successful but it'll definitely be a sight.
If I had neither system I'd take the PS3 for free since I could buy the Xbox360 for less than I could a PS3. If I did it the other way around, I'd spend more and therefore be a retard.
If I could be promised no red rings and a Elite, then I'd be all for a 360.

I would get the 360. PS3 doesn't really interest me and 360 has a great selection of games.
Although, getting a PS3 from FYE also nets you 5 Blue Ray discs. Assuming you sold all of them, you'd be halfway on your way to a 360, with the PS3 still to sell =)

Iīd pick the PS3. It is still in itīs beginning and since the Xbox 360 is somewhat older I expect the PS3 to have a longer run. Also there is exclusives like MGS 4, FF XIII, vs. XIII, Killzone 2 and as it seems Star Ocean 4 coming along with RPG-ports like Oblivion or Eternal Sonata and multiplattform titles like DMC 4, RE 5 and Silent Hill 5.
I would have the 360 as a secondary console, but my first choice would be PS3.

I would take the PS3 over an Xbox360 any day. Plus the PS3 would be worth more selling it on ebay so I could buy more Mega Drive/PS2 games.
I'd take the PS3, sell it and buy Snow Bros. and Eliminate Down.
Ooh tough choice, 360's are unreliable, but I can't get on with the playstation controllers. I'd go with PS3, then sell it to buy more interesting things while the ps3 is still worth something.
Nintendo Wii. Not sure why that's not an option.

It would hardly be possible to do a remake that pleases my needs, and that goes for most franchises. In fact, remakes usually suck. What screws them up most is the usual altered artwork design that goes like oil and water with the old one.

I must say I would love to experience the story in a more detailed way, walking through the really huge futuristic towns of Motavia and seeing the characters with all their cool sounding equipment.
BTW, the MGS 1-remake for Gamecube was a good one.
I've never played a Metal Gear game, except for Snatcher.

Nah, following the mainstream masses is so lame. I'd rather buy an ultr@ r@re JP Mega Drive game and enjoy it as a free-minded individual. The unknown and obscure games are often as good as the million sellers the magazines tell you to buy.

I did it before. But now I try to make an opinion of myself as much as possible before I buy games. And getting personal tips on what is good is always welcome to me.
Well, you should not completely dismiss hyped games. Some of them are being hyped for a reason. You would miss some great experiences.
I know. That's why I have Final Fantasy, Sonic, Zelda etc. in my collection. But getting all hyped games is too much, I don't even like all genres. You have to draw a line.
I would definitely go with the 360. The best games in the PS3's library are all games already on Xbox, and Sony's losing big franchise titles like there's no tomorrow (like Ninja Gaiden 2 now being a 360 exclusive). There is almost nothing on the PS3 to warrant getting one right now, and yes, that will change over time, but who gets a console to have it sit there and collect dust? I don't know anyone who's bought a console and said "there, that should be worth playing in about a year."
The 360 has a better library, a killer online structure, and virtually all the big releases for the next year or so. Yeah, the older ones are very unreliable, but if you're getting a new one, you're most likely not going to have this problem.
You have a point there; but good games are not far away for PS3.
And I buy a console by the factors of what franchises it has and how long I can expect the system to have support. MGS 4 and FF XIII are games I cannot live without, and the technical advantage should let PS3 survive the others; IF the sales get better, but I strongly believe they will when the mentioned titles come.
The Wii comment I made was more because it wasn't an option.
Literially, I have only recently in the last few weeks got a console from the LAST generation. If I got a console for FREE, it'd be a Wii purely because the others just don't seem to grab me.
If I had to pay, I would tell them that I am MORE then happy with what I have. None of the three consoles of this generation really grabbed me and I have no intention of following the hype or the crowds.
Final Fantasy is utter tosh. I am trying to play through FF2 (which is actually FF4) on my SNES right now and I just can't get into it despite it having a similar battle structure to Lunar. I had the same experience with FF7, there just wasn't anything for me to enjoy.
Metal Gear Solid was awesome. MGS2 and MGS3 were both utter tosh. Tosh, I tell you. No, not Posh. Tosh. Tissy wosshy mosh tosh. TOSH! T.O.S.H. Tee. Oh. Ess. Aych. Tosh. Therefore I currently have no reason to look forward to a PS3. And what is Final Fantasy vs 13? What the living toshing hell? That doesn't make any toshing sense. Is it a game where I fight Final Fantasy 13 itself? How tosh! Like a stupid BluRay disc in a box could defeat me. I have moving parts. I could crush it. Game over. What a tosh concept. Tiggidy tosh.
