Anyone else playing this? I can probably count on one hand the number of games I've played in the past 2 years. And after about 3 hours in, I have to say I'm enthralled. The atmosphere is giving me the same awesome vibe I got when playing Alien Isolation. I'm just gonna go ahead and call it my 2017 game of the year; because the only other game coming out this year I care about is BOTW, but, fuck Nintendo, so.......2017 game of the year.
Been picking up the recent HD ports of 4, 5, 6 and playing them before I get 7.
Played the shit out of the teaser/demo of it, though. That was great.

This game is the most utterly terrifying experience in gaming. Capcom has done wonders with this game, they've got the horror back to the series and the game setting is genius. It's classic RE all the way ... The lock picks are back, the store rooms are, the saves are back, the item management is back and best of all so its horror, so to the puzzles! Best horror game I've ever played, love the setting, the sense of terror and dread of what is coming next and the gfx and lighting some of the best this gen, best use of HDR too.
Can't play it in VR mode its just too much and too scary
I beat it the other day. It seriously is amazing. I wished I could have played the whole thing in VR because I really enjoyed it that way, but it's been the only VR game to give me motion sickness so far. Of the 8 hours it took to beat I played about 2 in VR.
I will say that I didn't really find it very scary though. It had great atmosphere and a few good jump scares, but I wasn't ever terrified.
Does this game have online co-op? A friend and I played 5 and 6 that way and I'd love to play 7 that way as well if possible. Sounds like they've done quite well this time from reviews though.

My God respect . I'm terrified playing the game in normal mode ... simply can't play it much in VR , though I do now and again replay part of the the game I've completed in normal mode in VR , but I still find it terrifying lol . I'm such a lightweightQuote:

I feel like RE7 is more of a cinematic experience with a game attached to it, then a proper game with a suspense/terror setting; also, the story/"RE-goes-hill-billy" setting didn't really cut it for me.
The fact that the game is pretty linear - even the first RE allowed for more freedom and exploration - and that you have unlimited saving doesn't help the game at all.
You could unlock Madhouse difficulty, which takes out checkpoints and makes saving limited with cassette tapes, a la the ink ribbons in previous REs. I wish it was there from the start, but that was only if you pre-ordered it. It also remixes item locations a la RE: Director's Cut.
The setting is a nice change of pace from RE4-6's globetrotting, imo. You have a derelict mansion with some surrounding properties. That's about as RE as it gets. There's even a damn crank "puzzle." The areas are somewhat designed not only to be visited multiple times, but to evade the encounters with the Nemesis-like Baker clan, so there is some variance there.

But then Sonic 2 takes me like half hour to complete, there are entire missions in Killzone 1 that take that long pretty much and theres no checkpoint feature. That's the kind of thing that takes the piss.
Not to mention limited saving barely even affects Resident Evil anyway, you finish the game with like a billion ink ribbons lol
^Damn, you're good. I consider myself better than "ok" at Sonic 2 and it takes me a solid hour to complete.
P.S.> I also need my save feature in modern games. And it better be often ;)
I think I overestimated my timing there... since I have absolutely no plans tonight I might just have to play Sonic 2 and see if I can really do it in half hour..
That being said I won't be even playing the special stages otherwise i'll probably just have a headache haha
