I respect the decision to axe the Japanese translation. That doesn't change the fact that you offered it as an option a long time ago despite the fact that you couldn't guarantee it was actually going to eventuate. Surely these are basic issues you should have sorted out before you started taking pre-orders, yeah?
Don't you ever intend to do another run? If not, how about throwing a bone to the people who are going to have to buy second-hand (for ridiculous prices, no doubt)?
Soon w'll see people angry and raging to see the game release, seriously guys... Enough trolling.
Chris > I've answered your PM.
Maybe if you stop dismissing legitimate criticism as "trolling" you'll stop having these sorts of issues.
"That doesn't change the fact that you offered it as an option a long time ago despite the fact that you couldn't guarantee it was actually going to eventuate."
In game development, a feature (or the game itself) can cancel at last moment due to an issue that cost too much to fix. Its exactly same here, I'm very sorry for that and there is always refund option.
We had several people proofreading things they cannot even read...
It was so fun (in a dramatic way) that I turned out to make volunteers proofreading a text I knew it had mistakes... If the guy says the text is perfect already (most of the cases !!!), I skip to next guy. Simple, but a week has passed.
Ho well, i'll not give more "making-of" funny notes. W'll probably make a book about them.
Thanks for your interest.
exactly.
I'd probably pick j version anyway because of packaging, but at least I'd give it another 5 minutes to think about, if I knew there's going to be extra languages in j version anyway. at the time j version was clearly superior, with less extra crap thrown in.
as it is, you'd have to release english only j version to meet the initial expectations. or you can stick your extra languages anyway and just ignore anyone who disagrees. OR you can add a code to enable/disable extra language options, hell you can even make it enabled by default, at least give me some option to get rid of them!
to better illustrate my point, here's the horribly mangled, no doubt, afrikaans autotranslation of above post, hope you can understand that :)
>>Soon w'll see people angry and raging to see the game release
yep, language is kinda moot point, since the game is still not released, and it's still unknown when that will happen.
we definitely should be raging about that, thanks for the tip :)
I offered to help translation from a native japanese speaker/reader/writer.
I think disorganization is too blame here.
There is no dis-organization on that point, I did process everyone who offered help. If it was just about saying it here (on a public message board), then I'm sorry, but it means you weren't really motivated, (and so up) to the task.
But again, I don't know under which name you contacted us and how it turned out, so I don't recall precisely, sorry for that.
I go back on the game. See ya.
Nope I think you're just horribly disorganized.
also yes, it was via the online form so urm...im not too blame on that one.
also, why should I be motivated to offer you a favour ?
you are already behind, with angry customers and dropping features! If I was you as opposed to being so rude would be after all the help I can get and find someone to properly translate it and not just waving your arms about declairing it to be other peoples fault and dropping a massive feature of the game that was offered.
At least he didn't call you a troll.
lol true!
but I do live under a bridge.
What a circus! :D
I would have been more than satisfied with a uni-region (clamshell!!!) box, no CD enhancement and english as the only language. In fact, if you guys decide to make a second production run with those specs, I'll buy it in a heartbeat and sell my pre-ordered EU version.
I'm not entirely sure I understand what you just wrote, but my point is thus: if you're using anonymous unpaid volunteers solicited via the internet to do your gruntwork then slow or shoddy work is not merely a possibility - it's an inevitability. Didn't you already lose a ton of artwork under similar circumstances? Why do you keep repeating the same mistakes?
I personally find it galling that you'd expect volunteers (the vast majority of whom are also paying customers, from what I gather) to translate/proofread your game for you, which is why I'm somewhat glad the Japanese translation has been scrapped. Nevertheless, you should never have announced something that you were clearly incapable of ever delivering, let alone take pre-orders for it.
You're trolling again...
You're acting like this is being made by EA or Activision or Bethesda. You think they have the money to hire professional testers and translators? We'd be paying $70 or more for the game. There are no such services for homebrew games, especially retro ones. They seem VERY capable to me. :D
