Just so I'm sure on this, you'll need to have the cart in the machine for the CD version to play? Or can you play the CD version independently of the cart version? Just wondering, because it might be neat to lend the cart to a friend while I play through the CD version. Another question - what's the deal with the cases? Do they house both the cart and the CD, or does the CD come in a slipcase or separate jewel case? Just curious. Either way, the pricing looks VERY reasonable. Gonna take the demo for a spin right now. Once again, AWESOME work!
Oh man, am I pumped for this. Gonna preorder ASAP.
Okay, so the packages are the same except the Posterity version gets your name listed in-game?
Haha, Mr. Smith cameo! The obsession with tosh around these parts is overwhelming.
The Posterity package does indeed "only" offer your the possibility to have your name in the game and in the manual. The idea is that it is a neat thing to have your name in a Mega Drive game for eternity; and it helps us get a bit of a head start for production with these 15 Extra Dollars, and to compensate unexpected expenses.
The 35 Dollars of the classic version are just the price we have to pay per game with case, 64-MBit-cart, CD, manual, poster, stickers and shipping; we have kept our promise and sell the game for nothing more than the production price. So we hope that fans and supporters will take the offer of the Prosperity Package to help us with 15 additional Dollars in exchange for their name in the game and manual.
Seriously: the standard price is lower than anyone could have expected, so we hope it is not asked too much to pay the little extra for this extra.
The CD will not run without cartridge; the idea is that if you do own a Mega CD the sound will come right from CD in high quality, if you donīt have a MCD you will hear cart sound.
The CD will also be in thestandard case; since average plastic clamshell cases have proven problematic for adding a CD Fonzie has designed a very special clamshell case made of sturdy cardboard (not like Segaīs own) to put everything that comes with the game in.
4 years of work have already gone into developing this game, and we do everything to make it the best experience possible on Mega Drive.
I filled out the preorder info for the $50 package, but I won't have PayPal funds until next week. I will be ordering it then though!
OK apparently the site does not work at all in Firefox 3 so I tried Safari.
There is no option to enter my state in the pre-order form which would be required for shipping purposes. Also, a friggin' "nick name" is REQUIRED???? (it keeps sending me back to page 1 if I don't enter one). I'm a little skeptical the game would arrive without my state in the shipping address. Also, I don't get any icons that say the site is secure and I don't like sending out this kind of information on a non-secure site.
I have no problem with firefox3,2... IE5.5, Ie6, Safari. But i know some people can have problem with some "open sources" flash players however.
Yeah nickname is required, but all info is kept confidential anyway.
What is your state Joe?
Enjoy!
Colorado.
I don't have a nickname. Can I make up something offensive?
Isn't colorado included in "usa, other states" I mean, its a state of the USA, right?
Then just the Zip code + city will be ok.
"Can I make up something offensive?"
Yeah :P Or put Joe Redifer again to don't shock the server too much :)
OK I paid. My nickname is "Red". :)
EDIT: Can't seem to find 'The caves" in the demo. What is "Speccy"?
the caves are in the forest, and you have to collect Edessot as well as Hostonīs and Alinaīs weapons before you go there.
And the question about the Speccy is shocking....I bet every Brit will immediately put you on his block-list. :) The Speccy (=Sinclair ZX Spectrum) is the greatest piece of British engineering and praised as a God on the island.
