Is that Fonzie there with the microphone held up to him?
Anyway hopefully the people bitter about not seeing the cover will be happy now :D
Yes, that is Fonzie. Quite the skeleton. :)
Please note the HD-TV the Mega Drive is hooked up to. :P
Awwww, cardboard? I thought Fonzie was affiliated with Tototek who can make plastic boxes which are far more authentic than paper boxes. Now I will have to scan the cardboard box and make my own plastic one as I do not allow cardboard on my shelf (cardboard attracts homeless people and I don't want them living around my games).
I think there was a discussion on their board or maybe somewhere within this topic where they mentioned how much more expensive getting plastic ones would be. I personally think this looks pretty nice myself. I don't think there's any other games that came in cardboard that came like this. It's unique and I like it anyway :p
Oh and the cover is pretty sweet looking IMHO :)
They could send the cart in a plastic bag and I would be just as happy! I`m more interested in what`s going to show up on my tv screen. But for the record it looks fantastic... just have to make sure I dont dribble on it when I get it, cardboard tends to go soggy!
It's not cartboard like SNES game, its as strong as plastic of course.
It looks better than plastic box (because the artwork shine more) + the disc fits in the box (which isn't the case of the plastic box we have).
Please think about some kind of exclusive packaging... not cheapo snes cartboard.
Also, to Joe, our box has EXACT same size of the original plastic boxes, which isn't the case of the plastic box we have available (they are a bit slimmer and less tall).
So it looks more than perfect in the sheft :D
Thx
The cardboard is because the CD would not fit into a regular clamshell, and nobody is going to do another mold for Pier Solar carts...
EDIT: Seems Fonz typed faster :P
looking good to me! :D
i've holded it at the RGC, and i can say that it's really great ! really not a like a cardboard box. i'm happy to have ordered a japanese version :p
I was really hoping for a plastic case too, but the carboard one does look pretty high quality. How is the CD held in place?
You see, we were in a real dilemma about the box. The chinese clamshell cases are made of soft plastic, so it would not be authentic to use those either; I believe our cardboard is even more sturdy than that plastic. Also, the plastic clamshell cases are a bit smaller than the originals, and a CD would be a very tight fit inside; in addition, we would have to glue in a little CD-holder button manually. And that button would have to be placed milimeter-exact so that the CD fits.
Thatīs why we decided on this unique packaging instead; it is of very hitgh quality, with different printing effects applied to it, room for cart AND CD and in the correct size. It is definately a better solution than the chinese clamshell cases, and it is not cheaper either.
The only other way would be producing a new mold for a new plastic clamshell case; but we canīt afford that, and no manufacturer would do it for such a small number of games.
The box looks good, and being able to hold the CD is a plus. I had wondered about that.
I'm a big fan of the DVD cases and since I get very few boxed games, was planning on making my own cases (one for the CD, another for the cart) anyway. Some of the covers out there that are custom are pretty sweet, too. Gonna make my own, still. Don't have the nice adobe stuff for nothing.
I'll preserve the original cardboard one, of course. And I'd be happy if it came ot me in a plastic bag, too!
