I get so bored and tired of the Sonic hate and everyone jumping on the bandwagon . The last few Sonic games have been very good with Colors and Generations being quite fab and it's like no one played the classic Sonics because other than Sonic 1 and to a tiny point Sonic CD it was all about adding in pointless and in most cases extra characters.

Tails added 2 players in Sonic 2 (split and single screen) and extra difficulty for bonus stages.
And S3&K was still about Sonic because you never have to play as the other 2 characters. Unlike SA2 where when I was forced to play as other characters, that was when I realized I would never beat this game.
Got in the way of the single player mode and the 2 player mode added nothing to Sonic for me. Never bought a single player platform game for a Vs 2 player split screen mode myself. S&K was going way from Sonic and some of the levels was designed around other characters. I agree with you 100% on Sonic Adv II, that's why I've never liked it or rated it . What about letting the second player control Tails (also in Sonic Adventure, and in Mania).
Came super handy in Mania for dealing with the trickier bosses.
Yeah, that's super cool in Sonic 2. Problem is, nobody wants to be the bitch. I used to have my brother or some visiting kids at the time, who sucked at games, control Tails just to have them do something while I played the game. But even then, if the person doesn't know what they're doing, they mess-up your hit count during the boss fights by constantly dying. Imagine tails always getting resurrected without landing a single hit. At least by yourself, you have some notion of control over that. I usually land an extra hit or two by default with tails. Which comes in very handy.
TA I honestly don't get you. How can you be hoping it will be that way for Forces when they've already shown how much the levels are designed to support the customizable character, even a mix of sonic + character that is even worse than Sonic + Tails? What you like about Sonic games is the very reason people are bitching about Sonic Forces, and yet you are complaining that they are complaining?Quote:

I have no problem with friends. The game just has to be good. Adventure is probably still my favorite. Interesting story, character arcs come together, very well put together game with a positive message. Adv2 was good, Shadow was good etc. as expansions of the Adventure motif.
I feel like some of the later efforts just didn't have the same effort put into them. Unleashed had great bits in a fantastic looking but simply unbalanced game. More or less the same with Colors. 06 could have been good if they finished it.
A Sonic game should feel like entering another universe where things are not like they are in your world. Like a surreal painting. That's what drew the furries and normal fans alike to the series. Another factor was the experimentation, there (used to be) something new with every game.
Forces does seem like it's trying to be interesting again, but who knows.
It really does feel like since Naka left (2006) there's a lack of direction what with Boom and strange deviations (Lost World). Iizuka needs to tighten the reins.

Uhh it was optional only in the sense that you didn't have to play as the other characters much like you didn't have to play the Sega Dreamcast. Completing all the characters is necessary for the ending, and most of the levels are different with some exclusives here and there (Hot Shelter for Big and Amy).Quote:

I really don't understand how you can complain about Sonic 2 and 3 having levels with slight adaptations such that the other characters can do something different, and then, after watching videos of Sonic Forces where the levels are clearly adapted to support the customisable character (meaning the focus is NOT Sonic), you don't reach the same conclusion.
