You could just play the game as Sonic and get a ending and not feel cheated. In just the same way you could play Sonic CD and no really bother with the time traveling or even the chaos emeralds and finish the game even if you wouldn't see the true ending.

I quite liked Sonic II tbh, it was just that tails added nothing to the game and just got in the way. Sonic 3 just felt a little unfinshed and S&K was where for me, the game started to feel more like a Mario game than a Sonic game. Truth is I've never been a Huge fan of the Sonic 2D games (other than Sonic CD), but I still to this day love Sonic Adv and really enjoy the Boom sections of the current Sonic games

Well, then we mostly agree. I think the boost sonic mechanic is fine and makes for a pretty fun game. I think they did it best in the day parts of Sonic Unleashed. Hence me really wishing they would focus on that.

My complaints about pretty much every modern Sonic game is "all the stuff besides the Sonic gameplay". They always try to add useless things on top and put way too much focus on Sonic's friends. Even in Forces you have the friends talking non stop and interrupting the music (and the music isn't very good in Forces so far from what was shown).

That's why generations and colours were so good in comparison to the rest, they were all about SONIC.

I agree. Sonic Unleashed is actually a good game it just needed another 6 months of work, even the nighttime sections are not that bad and on par with Knack 1 and II. To be fair to the Sonic Team with the last 3 Sonic games it was mainly all about Sonic, they were even good games too (ST don't deserve all the hate) and even in this new game it still is mainly about Sonic and you play as your Avatar in the 3rd act of each Level. It's looking like they're building a rather nice game and I'm looking forward to that game more than the new Mario, which for me looks to be a huge step backward from Galaxy 1 and II and more like Sunhine.

Sonic Team is reminding me of sitcom show writers. Aren't creative enough to continue with great writing? Introduce new characters to the main lineup.

Every tune I've heard in Sonic Forces is really good, catchy and atmospheric so far (except Green Hill zone, ugh, that's actually bad. At least that's the only bad track) They really are trying hard with both games.

Not amazing tune, but I know why you think it's awful - it uses PCM samples used in Genesis Sonic 2 music and I know that you don't really like Gen/MD tracks that use PCM.
For me these samples make this tune catchy, but not great sounding. Together with sfx it's just a mess.
