...you mean Return of the Joker, yeah? just making sure!
Batman: Return of the Joker is an NES game.
On Genesis and SNES, it's called Batman: Revenge of the Joker. Yes, the SNES version is unreleased.
If you're looking for a Batman fix on the NES and Gen, I'd recommend 'Batman The Video Game' for both consoles over this one. This one just isn't very good. The NES version is better than the Gen version, but that's not saying a lot. The great controls and fun factor of the first Batman game was replaced with this sequel's clunky controls and frustration factor.
Specifically, I'll discuss the NES game as I have played that one more recently, but rest assured, the Gen one is even worse. The Batman sprite is much larger than in the first game, and he is now less agile, no more wall climbs and he's slower. The enemies attack immediately when they come on the screen, and instead of moving back or being briefly invincible after taking a hit, you freeze for a second which allows your enemies to gang up on you. And there is a delay in your movement and attack from the time you press the button to the time your sprite actually executes your command. While you can get used to that when it comes to dealing with enemies, this can be a serious problem in the forced scrolling stages which require precise movement in order to both dodge enemy fire and be able to manuever obstacles without being squished by the forced scrollig screen. It can be an extremely frustrating experience. "Why won't Batman move when I press the button?! Gah!"
On the plus side, the graphics are colorful and the sprites are well rendered. The animations in the NES version are well done, there's just too many of them that Batman goes through when you need him to move quickly. The music in the NES version is stellar as well. Overall, the game is a mixed bag. Once you adjust to the poorly thought out control issues, you can have fun with it in parts and the presentation is very good. But the fact is that there are 2 more Batman games on the NES (Batman the Video Game and Batman Returns), both of which are so much better than this one it's ridiculous. 'Batman the Video Game' and 'The Adventures of Batman and Robin' are both top notch Batman games on the Genesis which I'd recommend playing over this one as well.
I know it's Return of the Joker on the NES
I didn't want to type out the whole thing
