Not referring to the emulated crap they sell now. I mean the actual Genesis that dominated that region throughout that 90s along with the Master System.

I don't care about all this sales topic, but since I can't stand misinformation and it also concerns the piece of land where I live in, I feel compelled to say that the Mega Drive sold roughly 3 millions units around here.
Also, the Mega Drive made in Brazil by Tec Toy were as real as a North American Genesis or European MD. Only the latter models, without the cart slot and such, and also the "new" MD made by Tec Toy can be counted as clones.
The brazilian things used all real parts until like 2000s. They got all genuine Sega ASICs in them, no clone stuff. Later things (~2000+) started to use TCT-xxxx clone chips.
