Well I really haven't been impressed with Sega since post Saturn and haven't seen or at least played anything interesting Sega since to say otherwise. Though not like I go out of my way to buy Sega products post Saturn anyway, I did have a Dreamcast and wasn't as impressed as everyone else. Though Sonic Mania I plan on buying.
Other then that, it's good to mix optimism with some pessimism, don't you agree?
I do agree but I have noticed more pessimism than optimism regarding Sega and their output/decisions on here. I realise that like all companies they are guilty of making bad decisions from time to time and have neglected a lot of their classic IP's. Having said that for every Sonic '06 and Sonic Boom fuck-up there is a Sonic Generations and at least Sonic Mania is evidence that Sega are trying to listen to what their fans want. There are reasons to be very optimistic about Sega's future and I'm not basing it on blind nostalgic loyalty. My comment earlier about buying a leaf-blower if Sega made them notwithstanding. :pQuote:

It's like they have no standards at all. Shitty Genesis emulation in 2017, even on powerful devices. It just rubs me the wrong way. Am i being unfair to Sega about this? Are my standards too high maybe?
They botched the Genesis collection on the Dreamcast, so that should give you a hint.
Now, now, guys. Lets stop being so pessimistic. That's my job.
And I'm certain guys like butlejuice (I really can't remember how to spell his name, so no offense, butlejuice) will remind us how higher resolution is more important then frame rate... maybe even sound.

I have downloaded some of them and here's what I've found:
Sonic the Hedgehog - This simply a free ad-supported version of the 2013 port that used Christian Whitehead's engine:

It's impossible for this one to have emulation issues as it's not emulated. It looks, sounds and runs fine
Phantasy Star II - This is emulated, it ran fine on my Android Droid 2 Turbo and looks ok. The sound isn't perfect, but we're not talking AtGames crap here. It sounds like your typical Genesis clones that have the filtering/balance off so certain highs get a bit distorted, or in emulators like Fusion or Kega where you have the sound on lower settings. I'd imagine that should be fixable.
Altered Beast - Emulated, looks and plays just fine on my Android. Sounds fine as far as I can tell. Only issue I noticed was the explosions when you kill a boss were a bit harsh sounding. Everything else was fine.
Comix Zone - Emulated, looks and sounds fine. This is the only one that had performance issues for me. That said, it wasn't unplayable. It simply got a tad choppy when the screen would shake or something blew up.
Kid Chameleon - Emulated, looks, sounds, and plays fine as far as I can tell. Though I was never a big fan of this one so I might not have noticed minor details.
So other than Comix Zone, I didn't really notice any major performance issues. It could just be something is off with the emulator settings for that specific game. To me for that game it came off more as though they opted for frame dropping instead of slowing down like the original games would have done.
Seriously guys, they're free and out right now. Just go try them for yourselves.
