Lately I've been thinking about going for a complete sega genesis collection. Here is my CIB collection so far https://imgur.com/a/msDfu
The only thing stopping me is the fact that I don't have my own place or dedicated game room, but in the future that will change.
What do you guys think I should do?
Does it seem like it would be worth it to you, personally?
I would just stick to the few that I enjoy enough that I know I would continually return to play again.
I wouldn't. But that's because I believe having everything takes away from a collection rather than adds to it, especially with something the size of the MD library. IMO a game collection is meant to showcase your taste and you lose all that with garbage in there.
To me it's what you don't have that defines your collection.

Just buy what you like. If you try to get a complete collection, you will only hurt yourself. Most games are trash, and the best games typically cost a mint.
You have a nice collection so far, but you're waaaaay off from a complete set. You will definitely need your own space to handle such a thing. Save your money for a place to put them first.Quote:

What purpose does buying a complete library of Genesis games serve?
Find your own way to collect and make an unique collection which shows its yours. I personally buy great and rare games from all regions, CIB. I prefer non-censored versions, versions with better boxart, like homebrews and oddities. I play almost everything I buy, but sometimes I got to conventions and expos and don't want to come home empty handed, so it happens I buy crappy games as a memory of that convention/expo. If there is anything I'd recommend it's to buy rare games first, as they just get pricier and pricier, and games you actually enjoy and will play. Buying games just for filling a room, is not as fulfilling as it seems.

yeah, to each their own but I'm with this guy - I absolutely have some games I know are shit but I loved as a kid or can enjoy in very small amounts...but if I clutter them up with shitty ones I've no love for? it doesn't feel mine anymore, just a projectQuote:

I mean, I'll buy anything if it's cheap (as in dirt cheap), so if a ton of games fell into my lap (as has happened once or twice) I'd spring for it. And I like having some games around that I haven't played yet or don't know much about -- just as I like having books I haven't read, movies I haven't watched, and CDs/LPs I haven't listened to yet.
But systematically building a complete collection for a system whose library is as big as the Genesis, and spending the coin necessary to do so? Too much money and too little reward.
