I'm really enjoying the Genesis cable with Saturn adapter as well. I was using s-video on a CRT so there's not a big jump in picture quality, but at least now I can play Saturn on my HDTV without having to connect via composite (which looks horrible).
Tonight at 7:59pm est is the last chance to get cables till the next batch(no idea when), good look to anyone who is interested.
My Genesis cable arrived today. I gave it a quick spin on my Sony Wega HD-CRT to see the difference between composite and the new component cable.
The pictures don't do it justice. Here are a few screenshots of Contra Hard Corps running on my Genesis 2 with the old cable and the HD cable.
Here's the opening screen with component. The barb wire is more pronounced and the edges are more difinitive.

Here's the opening demo scene with component. I don't know if it has to do with my CRT still having to process the lesser image, but I do notice that everything just has more pop to it, and the jail bars aren't visible.

Here's the same area with composite. The camera isn't picking up the rainbow bars, because of the screen interference. You'll notice the ghosting around the edges of the numbers though.

I also received my HD retrovision cables Friday. They work great on my genesis model 1 and model 2 that I tested them with on my Sony LED. But sadly the SMS is a no go. I did the 240p test and while the Genesis systems work just fine, my SMS does not produce the black n white picture test in 240p on component through composite. I've been in contact with the HD retrovision guys and it would seem that I lucked out with my Genesis systems working. Having said that, the colors and sharpness with this cable is much better than the s-video through HDMI converter I had been using. However, the jail bars are quite apparent with these cables from the HDG model 1. Model 2 didn't produce the jail bars. I'm hoping once I get another 32x for testing some issues I'm having with my current one, that will produce the same excellent results minus the jail bars.
I also did the 240p test with my SNES, but sadly that just gives a black screen. So I guess I will be looking at component to HDMI converters next that hopefully won't introduce any horrible lag and see if that might work better. I had really planned on using these cables with my SNES and SMS since my current s-video setup on my Genesis does look really good as well.
Tested mine as well, really give a beautiful image. I only tested them on my CRT though, which is where I would use them.
Tested on SNES cable: SNES, RGB-modded N64, RGB-modded NES.
Tested on GEN cable: Model 1 Genesis, 32X, Saturn (with adapter), and TG-16 (RGB-modded with GEN2 8-pin DIN).
Frankly I would not have expected an HDTV's (like my Sony) with 240p issues to work any differently with these cables. Which is why I will stick with my SCART to HDMI setup.
I'm glad I didn't buy the adapter for the Model 1 Genesis. I started thinking about how the Model 1 Genesis connects to the 32X, and remembered that it had a Model 1 to Model 2 adapter cable. I connected it this evening, used a mini headphone to RCA out from the audio port and everything worked fine.

The Saturn screenshots don't show much of a difference going from s-video to component. Is it more pronounced in person? Is it worth pursuing if I already have some nice handmade s-video cable for my Saturn?
Screen shots really don't do it justice. The shots I took of the Genesis was with an iPhone 6 at hi-res and then scaled down for upload on the site.Quote:

Saturn S-Video in general is quite good. That said what I've mainly noticed is that any remaining bleeding on the reds is gone and the overall brightness seems to be more balanced where as S-Video on the Saturn is really bright.Quote:

Yeah, I haven't tried the Saturn with the component cable yet, but in RGB it's not a huge difference. The colors are a bit better, making them stand out in those colorful arcade games.
Would you advise getting the Saturn adapter if I already have the Saturn s-video cables? I have to admit my Saturn on s-video is one of the best looking next to my Atari5200 and Genesis s-video from the 32x I have setup.Quote:

The jump from s-video to component on the Saturn is very small. The main reason I bought one is so I can play my Saturn on my big screen HDTV - which doesn't have an s-video input. My only prior option was composite, which looks horrible on an HDTV. Now I can choose to connect via s-video on my CRT or component on my HDTV.
The Saturn adapter is mainly for convenience, not for a big jump in picture quality. I already owned a Genesis component cable, so I just swap the cables between systems when I want to play on my HDTV.
Hmm..maybe I will hold off on getting that adapter then. I do have the Genesis cable and adapter for my model 1 and the colors and general clarity is noticable from the s-video I had before. But then I have all of my s-video stuff going through a JVC AV switcher to an composite/s-video to HDMI out upscaler to my flat panel TV and have used this setup for years now. I do notice that the s-video from the genesis is cleaner and doesn't have the jail bars as that is coming from the 32x side (added s-vid to my 32x). And my Saturn currently is the same way with s-video to my converter and back out to HDMI. I can say that I do prefer the overall clearer image I see from the HDRetro cables and perfer to use that over the s-video on the Genesis, if only I could get rid of the jailbars.. (Would clipping the component trace from the cxa1145 take care of that i wonder?).
