Here we go again. Scalpers will no doubt acquire every single one of them and then kindly give everyone else a chance to buy them for $500 each.
Having said that, I think SNES classic is a good idea and they seem to have a decent selection of games. I just hope they produce them in adequate numbers this time.
I have absolutely zero reason to be excited about this after the way Nintendo handled the Nes Classic Edition, there's no chance of people who actually want this getting one because the scalpers will be all over them day one.
Earthbound, huh? They're definitely aiming for more of a niche there.
Hmmm I wonder how Nintendo is going to handle this one? They totally blew it with the NES Classic now they can actually redeem themselves with this one.
They have said in other statements they are going to make more of these than they did for the Classic, but sales will still just be limited to a the last 4 months of the year. Hopefully the price increase will discourage scalpers a bit, but who knows.
I'm going to pre-order multiples if possible. I already know there will be lots of fuckery to be had with this thing. I would suggest you guys do this as well. If by chance I get an extra and someone misses out here then I'll be happy to give it to you at cost with S&H.
Yeah, I plan on pre-ordering this, since I consider the SNES to be a top 5 favorite. I never held the NES in the same reguard.

I'm curious if the ROM for Star Fox 2 they're including is any different from the prototype one floating around on the internet.
Word is, it's supposed to be a "gold" version of it. But words are just wiggling air.

If there is indeed a "complete" Star Fox 2 on here (and it does seem to be a real thing, given comments Dylan Cuthbert recently made), then the best thing about this thing will be when hackers dump the completed ROM on the internet, because I'm sure I'll never be able to get one.
It would have been even better if Nintendo had gotten the completed Super Turrican and put it on here. Shame that'll probably never show up at this point in time...

Yeah. Short version is they ran out of space on the cartridge, and didn't want to pay more for a larger size. They had to abruptly cut the final level, amongst other things. Factor 5 says they're sitting on the full rom, even offered Nintendo to release that one on the VC instead of the original retail version, but Nintendo's VC policy was against things like that at the time.Quote:

And Star Fox 2 as a selling point is mute if anyone's actually played it. I have, it's alright, but otherwise it is a half step up from the first, and too many steps back from 64 to bother with.

I like Star Fox 2, but I initially scoffed at its inclusion as well, then after I heard the "final" prototype that was released over a decade ago is only about 95% complete, I suddenly became curious about this version, since it's supposedly the final product with a bit more content and more gameplay elements, according to Dylan Cuthbert. I am curious about this "randomization" he talks of, since the most complete prototype has a random planet order at least.Quote:

Also, even if I think it's stupid that it's still a limited edition product, I'm glad they're at least making it a big point this time instead of constantly promising more restocks, only to pull the plug when demand is at its highest.

Every time I see one of these things, be this SNES mini or a Raspberry Pi or whatever, I think it's cool at first but then I realize it doesn't offer me anything that my laptop won't already do better.
