Hi guys,
I'm wondering if the pages of the "Storyware" books were made of plastic or just cardboard. No one seems to mention it.
Does anyone know for sure?

The pages seem like plastic, but they're actually paper with a very thick, glossy coating. One of the corners of a page of my copy of A Year at Pooh Corner is fraying a bit. I just happened to have most of my Pico library on a shelf in my office, from when I was considering recording video of the system, but without being able to see the book, much of the effect would have been lost, and I really don't feel like rigging up my camera and merging it with captured video.
Very thick laminated paper
Thanks, so it's thick laminated paper (which looks almost like plastic).
Lol, the Pico is just so uniquely complicated to record from real hardware (because it involves a TV, plus electronic storybook, and stylus pen-and-pad).
I can barely believe the console even existed, what a jumble of different pieces lol.
I remember when they were new and available at K-Mart. Interesting, and a brilliant idea, although it can't have been cheap for Sega. I have like four of the systems, and a stack of titles for it. Not everything, just what I could find at yard sales during the GOLDEN AGE OF CLASSIC GAME COLLECTING in the early/mid 2000s. Before the hipsterpocalypse, with its trustfundistas.

How did that font mishmash happen ( °_° )
Yet it outlasted all of Sega's main consoles =P (at least in Japan)
Yeah, like others have said it's like a very thickly laminated paper. It's not laminated on the edge though, so it's kind of susceptible to water damage or dog earing/separation over time. It's harder than most other systems to find stuff for CIB or in really nice shape though, especially considering it was all meant for use by kids.
Lol, I will say this thread made my Monday though, I feel like there is like no one in the world who cares about the Pico so my own time documenting it is mainly a labor of love.
