I have not played every 2600 game on the planet, but to say that the bulk of the library is made up of poor arcade ports is just totally wrong. The 2600 library was made up of stuff like Hangman, Combat, Circus, Checkers, Poker, Chess, Golf and just about every other generic game you could think of. Atari didn't start going into the arcade ports until after the huge success of Space Invaders, which was a pretty big deal to have in the home at the time. Activision and Imagic made a ton of great games for the 2600, and none of them were arcade ports, though you could say that Demon Attack was a better version of Phoenix. I have several 2600 games sitting on my bookshelf that I have never played, like Solaris (highly rated), Space Shuttle and Eggomania. I'll get around to them some day, even if the graphics aren't 32,000 colors on screen.
