Hi everyone,
I have a small YouTube channel dedicated to retro games, but this week I decided to do something a little different. Watching this season of Game of Thrones makes really makes me want to play a game, but the official GOT videogames leave something to be desired, so I decided to check out several videogames that should appeal to anyone who likes the show.

Yeah, I've only started with GoT like earlier this year too by binge watching them all, as someone wanted me all caught up for the current season 7. The Lannister family cast is by far my favorite.
In regards to the episode, PC games is something I've never played, so all these games are surprises for me. But when I think GoT I just generally think high fantasy and there are lots of games filling this area.
Sadly, it was kind of hard to find console games that I felt were like Game of Thrones and trust me, I scoured :PQuote:

Final Fantasy Tactics is Game of Thrones for the PS1. They're both based on the same historical events, and FFT is so bloody that GRRM could've even taken a few notes. For example, the knights on the cover of the game also hog the entire intro cinematic to themselves, and they're just the guys you kill in the first battle. And like GoT, FFT starts out more grounded and delves deeper into fantasy elements as it goes. The only happy ending turns out to be a complete lie, and basically everybody dies.
In GoT terms, FFT is about a band of heroes led by the noble-born bastard, Jon Snow. They get declared heretics by the high sparrow, and are forced to run around behind the scenes sacrificing everything they are in order to save the world from the succession war, the white walkers, and worse. Meanwhile, Littlefinger manipulates everything to his own end, becomes the rags-to-riches king that's adored by all, and pretty much takes full credit for everything you do while your band of heroes vanishes into obscurity, never to be heard from again. And Littlefinger was your best friend in this story.

Man, Battle for Wesnoth includes battling with Red Mages (fire), dragons, etc. as it is inspired, as GRRM books, on JRR Tolkien's world. Anyway GOT is like LOTR if it was made a cable show (thus with more gore & tits).
The PC game is copyleft so free and a huge colaborative effort that spans two decades now (and it's still being updated with new campaigns, graphics, etc.). It is based upon our own MD port of (MSX's) Master of Monsters
What about Dragon Force for Sega Saturn, since TRPGs always seem to be coming up in this topic? Always wanted to play that game, I mean come one, Sega Saturn. But it's been always really hard for me to get into the Tactical genre, though I'm sure one day it will happen and will regret why I haven't done so sooner.

Thank you for all the reccomendations everyone! Yeah I'll probably look into your reccomendations and I might to a sequel video on it. So who knows? I might include Shining Force 3 and Dragon Force 1 because I actually own those games (won't include dragon force 2 because I don't own it and never played it sadly).
I never heard of Battle of Wesnoth though. I'll have to check it out.
