The tanooki suit was a purely aesthetic upgrade over the standard "leaf" power-up (I'll call you a liar if you try to tell me that the statue ability was all that useful). The frog suit was beneficial in what, maybe 15% of the levels? The hammer bros suit was awesome, but it was only available once or twice through the game.
And someone back there complained about the music in Super Mario World all being the same... well, that's pretty much every Mario game up to that point. Mario 1 had 3 main music tracks. Mario 2 had 2. Mario 3 had... 5 or 6 (Overworld, Athletic, Underworld, Fortress, Airship... am I missing any?). Mario World's soundtrack may not be amazing, but it's not like any of the other games had more variety.
I can't change my official vote, but I think Super Mario Land 2 is the most overrated game in the Mario series rather than my original choice of Mario 64.
The results here are interesting, but of the 29 people who voted here, how many of them like Mario games period?
I think an "overrated Zelda game" thread would be more interesting, as there's PLENTY of those out there. Plus it has the added benefit of not being in direct competition with the mascot of a certain now-defunct 90's console manufacturer.
