This isn't the first time you've mentioned Dark Souls... you like it, hm?
I haven't really played much from beyond the 360/PS4 era. Does Breath of the Wild on the Wii-U count?
You are sale is pitch?
I must have sunk months of time into playing 007 Legends on the 360 a few years ago. I got addicted to the multiplayer team death matches and I'm a HUGE Bond fan so that might explain it lol. Not exactly the best designed game in the world and it was essentially COD:007 but I loved it anyway. It was released five years ago and, to my knowledge, there hasn't been another Bond game since! Shocking... absolutely shocking.
Sales pitch? "Play through all eras of the most successful film franchise of all time. Daniel Craig is James Bond 007 in action packed FPS levels based on Goldfinger, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Moonraker, License To Kill and Die Another Day! Confused? You will be! Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Bond films (in 2012) it's Bond and beyond! Available for Xbox 360 and PS3. Please ask permission of the bill payer before accessing online content. Please don't scream childishly down the mic at other players and please don't camp."
Oh I read the thread wrong...lol! Brain fart...best game SINCE the 360/PS3 era? For me it has to be Alien: Isolation.
Prey. It's the best System Shock game since 1999.
Is the thread about Dark Souls or actually making a.sales pitch for games? Just so I can clean up that title gore.
The later.
The Witcher 3
...The most immersive action RPG ever made.
Resident Evil 7 the best game I've played this or last generation, simply the game I enjoyed playing the most from start to finish.
So, let me get this straight, are being asked to state a case for the game we think is the best...
1) On the PS3 / Xbox360 generation?
2) After the above generation?
3) Or both generations above?
If it's 1), for me it's The Last Of Us. I haven't played as much from this gen as others, hardly as much, but this game really got me. I was totally hooked and think about it often. It's one of the best entertainment experiences I have ever had, it's comparable to movies and novels that I love in this regard (not as in, a game can be better than a novel, or a novel can be better than a movie, those are impossible comparisons) because it touched a nerve and got me involved emotionally. I think the very realistic graphics helped convey that, as did the stellar acting and production values.
Really, really great game.
If we're talking scenario 2) then scratch all that.
3, cleeg.
Was anyone actually confused with the original title about who the "salesman" was? :?
Haven't played too many from this era. I guess I'll go with this: Demon's Souls: what Diablo II should have been.
Last of Us was not my favorite game from last gen, but I believe it was the best one I played. The digital copy came with the PS4 I got, but I never installed it.

Considering Microsoft is shuttering Xbox Live Indie Games this month, I'm going to promote NYAN-TECH. I don't think anyone would look at it and say it's the best game of the generation whatever that means, but it's definitely unique and will be among the most enjoyable experiences you'll play on the 360. That's not bad considering the game is only $1. Basically, NYAN-TECH is a simple looking Japanese platformer where the controller buttons trigger the various platforms you'll use to play through each stage. Some require just a press to turn on or off; others require that a button be held to influence it. The game feels very much like a platform game version of Twister, and it's wonderful. I love it and make a point to play through it at least twice a year since release, and it'd be a definite contender for my favorite game on the platform.
Unfortunately, the game just starts getting challenging right about when it's wrapping things up. Still, it's hard to complain about the game only having 40 levels when it's only $1. It's a real shame that games such as it and Yuzo Koshiro's Protect Me Knight couldn't get more recognition and are going to vanish forever in the next few days. Seriously, this is your last chance to buy and play some truly great games. NYAN-TECH is just a solid platformer with an innovative gimmick that you'll likely never see again if you don't buy it right now. Literally right now. All we know is that Microsoft is going to pull the plug sometime this month. You'll still be able to redownload the games you purchased, but you miss your chance now, that's it.
BUY NYAN-TECH TODAY!
I want to add to my first post that I would rather represent one game per Generation when it comes to these matters, though. After all, it's only fair. My vote went for the, still going strong, 8th gen. Also, for simplicity's sake, I'll consider multi-generational, remastered and/or ported titles under the lowest level gen (in this case, applicable only to the 7th). So, from my experience thus far, I'll extend my vote to each gen in question:

9th Gen (Switch):
-PENDING...
...
P.S.>My opinion is obviously subject to change as I play more 7th gen and 8th titles. And with more and more great 8th gen games to come, I am certain that, at least, the runner ups will most-definitely change.
You think that Far Cry Primal is better than Horizon: Zero Dawn?
He's listed games in no particular order. Then in bold he's cited his personal top 3 games for each generation.
7th Gen (PS3/360/Wii/DS/PSP):
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch - First
Fallout 3 - Close 2nd
Mass Effect 2 - Close 3rd
8th Gen (PS4/PS VR/XBONE/Wii U/3DS/PS VITA):
The Witcher 3 - First
Horizon: Zero Dawn - Close 2nd
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Close 3rd
I'm curious about these two entries. I played Darksiders and enjoyed it enough that I was marginally excited about the sequel, but by the time Darksiders II came out, I had already lost interest. And Castlevania, I just didn't particularly enjoy at all.
However, you listed the sequels. How do the sequels improve over the original games? Should I give them a shot?
Also, have you played many PSP games? I feel like Locoroco might be right up your alley.
I mean, it was a really great experience the first time to be remembered for ages and one everyone should experience. But when I tried replaying it I noticed it didn't have the world building I crave. It's just regular old boring earth, nothing spectacular that captures your imagination and runs wild with as in Final Fantasy 7 and Mass Effect 1-3.
Not best game of this generation, just your opinion on from what you've played. But it's cool if you want to bring this game to attention, I'm not really that picky with what folks want to talk in my topics. Makes for a more organic thread.
Which did you enjoy more, Fallout 3 or 4?
And Mass Effect 1 nowhere on that list? It's supposed to be at #1, your list just lost all credibility. :p
Isn't Ori an Xbox One game? I don't think it came out on the 360.
Yeah, I've enjoyed some of those FPSs you mentioned as well. A lot! They just didn't Make it to my top 25.
Thanks for noticing.
Both those two sequels you mentioned vastly improved on the original in terms of gameplay mechanics and a story dynamics. I highly recommend them both and their predecessors.
Thanks for the recommendation. I will have to check that out. I give heed af the end that my list is not perfect or final. It's always in constant flux, which is why I love gaming. :)
^^Fallout 3. 'Favorite fallout game thus far, including all DLC.
^Lol. I distinctly remember you agreeing with me in that ME2 is the best in the series. ;) Either way, I was happy to be able to include a game you might approve of.
Yeah, I definitely recommend it broham. That game is perfection, guaranteed.
That was then, this is now. For my 10th or so playthrough, I've come to the realization that ME1 is the best. And you know what I always say "The more you play a game, the more you know for certain of it's quality." ;)
Prior I was always torn between ME1 & 2 after second playthrough of series, but leaned more toward ME2. The fan base is overall split between the two, but more favoring ME2.
Did you know Mass Effect team actually hired strippers for motion capture?

Now that's a sales pitch. ;)
They obviously skipped that idea with Andromeda.
