Holy shit, this game was AWESOME!!! I'm a huge sucker for fan service well done. And this game was pure, unapologetic, rock-motherfucking-on fan service. It takes from so many iconic 80s action franchises. Heck, I'll list some:
-Miami Vice
-BloodSport
-Cyborg
-Terminator
-Robocop
-Commando
-Rambo

...The list goes on. I'm sure I missed some, but the pure crazy awesome mayhem must've made-up for it. Heck, besides the obvious 80s 8- and 16-bit cutscenes (which were epic!), there were even some blatant video game franchises also referenced like Contra, Gauntlet, Mortal Kombat... DOOM!!! I could go on and on in detail and depth and I could still miss many more. And let's not forget the sick synthesizer music!!!! :rock:

This is as much of a stand alone title in my book as Sonic 2 is to Sonic (1). Same engine, many recycled elements for sure, but a whole new experience from beginning to end. This is not just some shitty DLC folks. Definitely not some patch. This is pure fucking bliss! The only thing I don't like about it is the re-cycled use of the title "Far Cry 3". This should've been called "Blood Dragon" (or Far Cry: Blood Dragon). Not hating on Far Cry 3 specifically, just saying Blood Dragon deserves a stand-alone title and definitely merits one. :D

I recall beating that stupid DLC from another Ubisoft title (Black Flag), the Aveline DLC. That took probably 1 hour to finish and felt like more of a demo than a game. Not even as thrilling as some DLCs we see out there like the ones in the Fallout series. For that, I still won't consider beating that Aveline DLC as having beaten a game. But Blood Dragon was pure epic, wholesome, complete awesomeness!!! I'm so glad I chose to download it. I only wish it could've been included on the disc and not as a DLC code. :?

I'll go with Goonies II. It feels like a good bridge between the kids of simple scoring games we got during the early 80s toward the more expansive adventure games and better defined visuals. Plus you can't beat Cyndi Lauper.

Back on topic, when I think about the spirit of the 80s, I think of the arcade game "Cabal"! Hard game, simple graphics, alot of "trackball" fun and somewhat corny ... when you beat a level, your character dances around across the screen and continues to do so while he prances towards the horizon and into the next level!

It just was a great time when Arcades and SEGA were at their very best and each year SEGA would just come out with an amazing coin up. AB II just took the thril ride of the film Top Gun and placed it in a fab looking and sound Arcade game that was a blast to play in the best hydriodic coin up going (well maybe G Loc 360 was better). Space Harrier ,AB II and Outrun was the games that made me LOVE SEGA and be life long fan and think Yu Suzuki was and still is a GOD. A perfect coin up game that was a blast for 5 or 10 mins of simple pure Arcade fun.
