Not sure how right they really are and after Mania receiving a lot of praise, is Sonic Forces going to be another low average Sonic game?
Don't really play Sonic games but when it comes to the reviews, you never know if it will be good or bad.
Reviews these days can't be trusted, specially not from a shitty site like Polygon. If you want my absolutely infalible opinion, the game looks like crap. They learned nothing from generations.
It probably will be all over the place. I saw a video that said Famitsu gave it 35/40(3 9's and an 8).
Critics think it is their duty to shit all over every Sonic game. The Polygon ass mentioned nothing of any substance as to why it's apparently terrible. Sounds like there's technically nothing wrong with the game, he just doesn't like the core elements of Sonic games.
*pushes glasses up* It's boring... it doesn't have much to offer. You press right and jump a lot. How can a Sonic game be built upon such a terrible premise? We all know Sonic is best when it's first-person, open world exploration with intricate turn based combat. What is this side-scrolling game bullshit? Why such an emphasis on speed and racing through the level? There's quick timed events, and smashing targets to defeat bosses. That's not what Sonic is about. This is terrible! This is like, a game that's made for fans of Sonic games, and that totally sucks!

I mean, it's no Sonic 2006. Probably about as good as Sonic Unleashed? The modern stages look decent (if you enjoy boost to win), the tacked on crap isn't nearly as bad as the werehog stages from Unleashed, but Unleashed didn't have shitty friends that don't shut up, a builtin Sonichu maker and traumatising rapes of classic Sonic music.
100% of the Sonic games I have played to completion have been good games. And I have played a ton. Some neat surprises in there too, such as the Sonic Boom series on the 3DS, which are absolutely fantastic.
If forces is anything like Colors or Generations, I will love it.

Yeah after watching some long play vids I pretty much lost most of my enthusiasm for the game. I'll probably still end up getting it eventually as I've just been craving a new 3d sonic game lately for some reason, but there are definitely some things about the game which I don't find very appealing. Oh well, as long as Sonic Mania 2 ends up getting made eventually I'm good.
