The first one is emulated through SSF. Are there any videos with footage from a Saturn? BTW I know the game runs in high res/60FPS etc so I'm not disputing that.

No but they want them to look at least as good as PS4 exclusives. That's their choice.

Every developer does whatever they want. All machines are capable enough now to make good looking games that run at 60fps. Nintendo has changed a lot since it's N64/Gamecube games and they make some of their games at 60fps now even though their consoles are 1 generation behind in terms of power.

Disagree about the hardware being at fault for high res or 60fps. That's developer's choice. Agree about texture mapping and sound. That's something the hardware couldn't do very good.

The other games don't have as many sacrifices it terms of detail but they are lower res and frame rate. So yes, exactly. What i'm saying is if Konami wanted the games to run like Decathlon, they could do similar sacrifices and achieve similar results. I don't know why this is so hard to grasp. Maybe it's my wording? English is not my native language.

English is my second or third language, maybe that's why I understand you.

You assumed wrong. I've been watching this discussion since the start but since everyone is acting like adults for the most part, I don't need to intervene.

I dusted off the old N64 during the 4 day weekend. I played a little bit of F-Zero X, WDC and 3 or 4 levels of Rogue Squadron. I had a lot of fun with 2 of the titles.

Well I just bought the N64 and NES everdrives and I don't either system at the moment.

Who ever said "can't program". They just weren't as good. This came up after the discussion about arcades (mostly fighting and racing games). During the 90's, Japanese developers made the best arcade and fighting games as they had much better animations and frame rates. They also had better tech AFAIK (nothing could come close to the Model 3 for instance). Arcade games made by US developers weren't as good. They moved with less grace, animations weren't as good and had inconsistent and lower frame rates most of the time. They didn't feel as polished.

Funny I can still enjoy Nascar 2000, Quake, and a couple other American titles. I'm sick of the pro Japan crap people on the Internet shove down others throats. (I don't hate Japanese games, but good grief, not all of them are that special)

It's not even really region related. N64 had Midway giving releases like Mortal Kombat Trilogy and Mortal Kombat 4 which were considered good fighters for the time. The former is simply overshadowed by the Saturn and PS1 versions, and latter is overshadowed by the Dreamcast version. Both had decent quality animation and ran at 60fps in the arcade. There's quite a few Japanese developed fighters for the N64, they're just ok is all. They're not really great or amazing when you compare them to what Sega and Namco were pumping out on the Saturn and PS1. And that's not even getting into the 2D fighters being pumped out by Capcom and SNK on the PS1 and Saturn.

You were talking about the N64 having janky US developers for the N64. You can also add Germany based Factor 5 to the list.

until well into the 2000s american games generally sucked a monkey hole compared to japanese, or even european stuff. that's because they had a much longer non-broken line of developing since gaming was always popular there and it was seen as a serious industry for adults and not only kids to play games.
