The Red Dead series

With a new game finally being released in October(exactly after 8 years), I figured this series deserves its own topic. Discuss anything thats relevant to the series.

So I'm currently trying to %100 Redemption on PS3 before Redemption II comes out, started a new save 5 days ago. I've been playing blackjack a lot recently, but I noticed the game takes hours to play through. Is this normal? Its like an endless cycle of gaining and losing chips.

I love the setting and I loved red dead redemption 1 except one major element and that was the lead character you played. such a boring "do good" familyman. He annoyed the fuck out of me and made me drop the games score by at least 2 points. I could barely drag myself to finishing the game.... until......

the ending..... WOW that made this game from an 7.5/10 into a near 10/10. never saw that coming. can't wait for red dead 2. rockstar always delivers the highest quality.

I've never played these games believe it or not. They've somehow passed me by. I might give the new one a try when it comes out.

I highly recommend people try Redemption I, its like a $8 game in my currency.

Though I haven't tried Revolver and don't plan to, the game looks so ghetto.

Red Dead Revolver was pretty forgettable.

Red Dead Redemption had amazing landscapes and game mechanics but I got bored way before the end because it was so easy. I was just going through the motions because there was no intensity. Maybe it changes further in but I did give the game several hours.

I totally agree, I said that the first time I saw it was gonna be called that. Its a cringey name that reeks of brand-recognition.

Anyways, I was searching Red Dead Redemption II on Google and found a picture that almost got me a little too excited. Its strange that this picture popped up because Redemption II won't take place in Southwest U.S., but the first Redemption did:

I have the first PS3 outing already, is the PS2 title Red Dead Revolver part of the canon (pun!), if so I must pick it up.

But its still part of the series. There was a thousand better names they could've chose instead, Red Dead Rebellion, Red Dead Renegate, Red Dead Retribution, but they chose Red Dead Redemption II because of brand recognition and its a painful name.

Question: Are all the downloadable content found on the disc of Red Dead Redemption The Complete Edition? And if so, is there any difference between the XBOX1, XBOX360, and PS3 versions?

Yes. The GOTY edition was released 1 month after the last DLC pack. There isn't even an option to go to the DLC store.

I don't know about the Xbone version but the PS3 and 360 versions are completely identical and that likely includes DLC. Of course graphically the 360 version runs at a slightly higher resolution because of the unified RAM, but I've been a Sony Pony my entire life and have no immediate plans of quitting.

That is a photo using tilt-shift and chromatic aberration and the latter is something modern games use far too much. Makes games look terrible. It's the new bloom lighting.

I've played through most of Red Dead Revolver, but got bored with it. I ended up trading it in for something else. I've had Red Dead Redemption (360) sitting in my pile of shame for what seems like forever. I really need to play it soon.

Bloom was so common that it even has its own poster boy(stop right there, criminal scum!!)

Bottom line, people need to play RDR, unless you hate Western themed gtr clones with oodles of things to do. The only thing that's kept me from 100% is the goddamned mumbly peg mini game. Can't wait for the next iteration.

Thanks for the answer azonicrider! I was walking in a Walmart a few days ago and saw a copy 360 version just dumped in an area unrelated to the gaming section which prompted me to ask the question here.

Now to find a cheap copy! Walmart was selling it for 29 smackaroos! :yuck: Oh Walmart! :shame:

Fans of GTA will probably like RDR, but its not much of a GTA clone. Its heavily inspired yes, but its not a crime simulator and it has a ton more RPG elements. It was also made by Rockstar San Diego instead of Rockstar Scotland which makes GTA.

Who the hells azonicrider, don't associate me with loser posers like whoever that person is.

But anyways, yea don't do it for $29. Especially if its not GOTY edition. The game is very common and has no value, I see it for around $8 at pawn shops.

I just reached 28% in Redemption I after 16 days.

How many of you guys kept the Pleasance House, or sold it to the guy? I friggen love the place and its location, I'm not selling it until the very end of the game.

Did you play it on hardcore mode?

I never finished the game and I was reading that the GOTY edition has a hardcore mode. It's thanks to your comment that I found out there was a harder mode.(I don't like it when games are too easy). It just sucks that it's exclusive only to that edition but oh well. It gave me an excuse to get the physical copy I guess.

I reached 98.8%. It took 1 month 10 days.

What was left to do? 12 bounty missions. There was no way I was gonna do them, I am so sick of the game and those missions are one of the biggest buzzkill aspects.

Let this be a lesson for other people trying to reach 100%. Do the bounty missions whenever they pop up.
